You will probably find out that the impounded cars were already taped in previous street races. All those fans at the drags taping cars? Yeh, guess who.

One facet of the complete lockout of street racing on this site involves becoming an exhibit for the prosecution.
Yeah I know. I've seen the police confiscate cameras and stuff when I was "into the scene". Now I'm a little older, a little wiser, and I've seen way too many people lose their cars over this sort of stuff. Guess it just wears on you over time.

Sucks a DSM had to be taken in all of that. Bet it was a 1995 GSX too. Oh well, I guess some people gotta learn. I agree though Defiant - they were probably witnessed racing and then the cops rounded them up when they were chillin in a parking lot.

At least it happened before they killed someone.

The thing is, the track isnt free. If it was I think things would change somewhat. Its costly to race every weekend. Hell, just this Month alone I have already spent $255 and I still have one more event to go to next weekend which is going to cost me another $150 at least.

Kids just dont have the cash to spend on the track every weekend.

Here in NM It's 12 bucks to race if they can afford gas to race up and down the street's all night they can afford to hit the track.

That's just wrong and I hope you understand that. Even if it looks rice to us, its somebody's car and they (hopefully) put a lot of work, love, and money into it. Yes that owner should be imprisoned and what-not, but save the cars, its not like they can argue with their drivers (unless they're DSMs). That auction thing is a pretty good idea, but crushing cars is just some dip-stick politician trying to get votes from parents.

It's not wrong, my mom was hit by street racers, I had a car totaled from streetracers that rearended me at a light and I have been pulled over 3 time's because of retards reving on me and taking off at lights and the cops decideds to go for me instead since I'm not speeding away. I used to hang out with people and watch races but as far as I'm concerned burn them all. And how are you spening $405 a month? Most cars that are streetracing are slow pump gas cars. As far as price it's only $15 here which is a lot cheaper than going out all night and racing and the risk of a ticket or worse.

The only track that is open near me is about 35 miles away. Figure 3 gallons of gas to get there and back @ $2.57 a gallon = $7.71

$20 to get into the track X 4 weeks: $80

gas for the track, 100 oct @ $5.00 a gallon: $25

Fee to race at Sony Xplode Series $65

gas for Sont Explode : $35

Fee for PSCA: $65

gas for PSCA: $75 ( 10 gallons of 110 to try it out )

Fee for IDRC : $65

gas for IDRC: $50 for 10 gallons of 100 oct

Not counting food, smokes, drinks, ice etc.

gas for getting to PSCA, SONY and IDRC and back: About $20

$487.71 before counting Food, smokes, drinks and ice. and that is just this month. After IDRC this coming up weekend, I am taking a break until I get a new engine and trans in the car. So I wont be racing until Feb.

It's not wrong

I was referring to the destruction of an innocent car, not the prosecution of a guilty owner. I'm with you 100% on street racing and the penalties for owners, I was just saying I don't think the car should suffer as well (unless nobody claims it at the auction, in which case its probably a POS and the owner can watch it be destroyed).

i wonder how they destroy cars that have leins on them. im sure the leinholders would go after them for their money. if my car got crushed, im not paying for it, and my bank can kiss my ass cause they dont have anything they can take from me anymore, so they will have to go after someone else.

Its kind of hard to have a whole bunch (10+) of cars at one persons house So meeting in a big open space where your not bothering anyone isn't such a bad idea. (as long as they aren't causing trouble).

As for the guys busted in the sting, they know the life style they live, and know what a rush it is to go streetracing and get away way from cops when being pursued. I used to street race, until I had a couple close encounters with the cops and my friend's got a lot of tickets and watched a couple of bad accidents.

There are serious consenquens and watching the car you put 5k to 20k into get taken away from you is one of them. I'm young and although I don't condone street racing, I'm not completely against either as I know its just something you have to grow out of, and I'm lucky as its emails like this that got me to go to the track more often rather then do it all the time on the street.

I'm not going to lie and say I've completely gotten out of that scene, but I'm slowly learning about the more important things, and I'll tell ya that those guys who went to jail are learning a lot faster than I ever want too.

I wonder if they will auction that eclipse for a nice price =D
Buttt........
I dont street race, but a few weeks ago a mustang and a crx were racing here in town and the mustang lost control and traveled into the southbound lane and hit a mitsubishi galant with 4 people in it going home from just eating, and he killed them all. Street racing is fun, but stupid at the same time.

If you want more tracks, help to get one open in your area, thats what we are doing here to stay safer on the main roads.

They simply take you to court for failure to pay and get a judgement.

Then they can get your wages garnished, not to mention the hit on your credit report... which can also effect what you pay (in some states) for auto insurance on any other cars you may own in the future.

Good impound them all!!!!!! People die all the time from this crap and give us good guys a bad name. I swear when ever a cop pulls me over for a muffler ticket, its the guy that is jealous he cant have one because his wife rules his life. Thats the ones who do it.

I could of told you they would impound them. But they ONLY have autority to do so when it is pre-arranged. Willful or spontaneous they cant do shit. But in order to get a pre-arranged they must catch the other guy, i was wrote a ticket out for pre-arranged but since the other guy ran, he couldnt prove anything. It pisses the judges off which i enjoy because they are all ####in gold diggers. If you know your gettin rdy to get a pre-arranged ticket u might as well try and run and hide somehwere real fast, that isnt considered evading. You will be thrown in jail even if u pull over without making the cop move from his spot, trust me.

Walk away and report the car stolen ftw
I saw a story about some kid in an SRT-4 who did that a few months ago... his friend ratted him out when put under pressure and he got put in jail for street racing and a false police reports and all that stuff.:thumb:

Found this on aol today, It states that cars that have been confiscated as part of illegal street racing activity are being crushed now......WTF

Police crush street racers - AOL Video

Read some of the idiot remarks below the video.
I think these cars should be auctioned or parted out therefore providing some money that COULD go to charity or something, it just seems like a waste....

They've actually been doing that for a while now. Anybody know how long they've been doing it for?

Just shows that they are focusing on imports only. I remember the first time they did it. They talked about how if a Viper or Corvette is caught racing they will also get crushed, but they out of the 7 cars they crushed for the PR 5 were Hondas, and 2 were Acuras.

the reason it was all honda's was because the cops had plenty of time to catch up to them while they were waiting for vtak to kick in...
