I bought an Autometer Phamtom coolant temperature guage for real cheap. Problem is, it didn't come wiht a sending unit. Can it be hooked onto one of the plugs on the thermostat housing? if so, which one? thanks for the help.

The dash's temp gauge is the single wire on the thermostat housing area. The wire should be coming off the front of it, six or so inches from the top. That works for some people. I recently tried using the stock wire to work with a weirdo "Timex" blinky ricey water temp gauge, but the needle wouldn't budge. Used the sensor it came with and it works fine. So, it might work, might not.
