Coolant Issue

Went to the shop and saw my head apart(Really Really cool the way the head is designed). He's going to replace everything and redue the valve guides and seals again, replace all the valve seals, and do the oil port job. I asked him how much and he said $50 to resurface the head. Hellz yea!

How the head looks on the bench

4G?, I hope you meant 1G LOL.He's got one in the shop. Not really sure the type it is, its def not a cnc machine or anything crazy like that.

Should i really need a new timing belt? It barely touched and didnt even really go deap n just barely scrapped the top. I can barely feel any kind of groove when I put my finger across it.

4G as in 4G63...

It's ultimately up to you, isn't it? Almost everyone on this site would recommend you put a new one on there because the cost of a new belt is cheap compared to what could happen if that grooved belt fails.

...and move some of the oil pan bolts around until you find the two short ones, then install those into the correct holes to prevent this from happening again.
Or just buy two new short bolts and replace those that are causing the problem. :)

Head all redone and everything got resurfaced. Had a small dip near the coolan passage so this should in theory sold that coolant problem.

I bought the gates belt :), alittle more but why go cheap on the timing belt. I bought the timing belt cam holder to make sure all the marks will line up and I cant seem to be able to get the belt back on. Its off by a tooth or two. SOB why do I keep getting hung up on these stupid little problems. Are the cams on the wrong way?? The guy who did the head took it all apart so im not doubting it.

I'm getting all fed up with this Dont worry tho guys no matter how much i get fed up I'll def be keeping this DSM and not partin it out. Just alittle venting LOL

You're going to need to pull it a little tighter than that to get it around the intake cam gear. :)
You may also need to put a 17mm wrench on the cam bolt and turn it slightly to get the belt slipped on.

Remember the 39 tooth count in addition to getting the marks lined up: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/273973-pictorial-installing-timing-timing-belt-6bolt-2g.html#post151312697.

Yes I know that but I thought that when you bought this tool you could just place it in and then put the timing belt on it.:nono: This is not the case, I did the timing without it and got it all lined up. After this was all done then I put the cam gear holder to make sure the timing is good. I felt pretty dumb LOL.
I did make progress though! I have the timing belt on, turbo bolted up,intake manifold and everything wired back up. Ofcourse i did six rotations then tried to put the pin back into the tensioner and it slid right in :).

I'll post up a video once I get everything running today!!!

Car runs perfect! Has no leaks, has consistent A/F mixtures that are on the money and coolant is staying level!

A warning to people that are new to this. Even if the guy takes a flat bar and sticks the gaping tool with the smallest thickness just get it resurfaced. Even if he thinks its flat, it may not be and its just way to much of a headache to go back and tear it all up. Thanks for all the help every body!!
