I have ( well am getting) a 90 laser turbo, and the owner tells me the car is burning coolant ( or losing it somehow) but the oil is ok, there's no coolant in the oil, and there's no oil in the coolant, so he thinks it might be the headgasket, but there would be coolant in the oil if it was right? If it's not that, whoat could it be? I was told it could be the water pump itself, live the seals o some wierd weeping valve or something. What could it be if not this? It's still a good idea to buy this whole car for 800 dollars? Cause that's what he wants for it ( well, he said 1000, but I talked him down to 800) Thanks in advance for any help or advice given

The guys first name is kelton and he's from eastern NC like me, but honestly, that's as far as I am going to go with information on him ( it just wouldn't be right to give out a bunch of personal info about someone you don't know AND without their permission), if you know him, that should be sufficient.

Parting it out would probably get me more than 800, but I honestly wanted to use the car for a little while, and then rebuild the engine ( it's a 6 bolt with descent miles, only 117k for a 90, that's not bad at all.) and put it in my 94 Galant project car.

Aparently cause I just got another E-mail, it IS burning the coolant, it isn't leaking, though I'm not even positive on this one. But if it's burning the coolant, and the oil isn't compromised, what could it be? he said it could be one of these possibilities:

1. water jackets from the top of the block leaking into the cylinder.
usually caused be a bad headgasket.

2. Coolant comming straight through the intake, into the head, past the
valves into the combustion chamber. Could be caused by bad TB o-rings like I
said before. I was told this by my local performance shop which works on
quite a few DSMs and I have also seen this on dsmtuners.com etc.

3. Worst case sanerio, It could be a cracked block. But this is unlikely.
These motors, as you know are pretty strong. and the car hasn't been abused
in anyway I know that would have caused any adverse conditions that would
cause such damage.

4. Cracked turbine housing. Again unlikely. The turbo has coolant running
through it, obiously, but in order for it to be pushed back through the
motor you would have to have a crack in the housing. However, as you
probobly already know, the turbine housing is a thick, solid peice of metal.

Could be anyone of these, or the characteristics don't match? in any case, done anyone know how much the repair on something like these listed could cost ( estimates are fine) thanks.

Also just to add, I'm looking through the forum and it seems people are really interested in the 4G64 block and crank. I mean, I have that engine currently in the galant, and I have heard of the hybrid 64T engine with a huge displacment and shit, but I really don't have the bank to be going that route, and I'd be very satisfied with just the 63T engine giving me power ( not really interested in making the most power possible.) If I were to post on here the bottom half of my 64 engine, would that get takers ( honestly.)? Because that engine is comming out one way or the other, and if I can make more money on it now then if I sell it to a mechanics place, I'll do that of coarse. It's good conditon block with like 85k miles on it, though the car, and engine, have been sitting for like 6 months without running, but from what I've been reading, they just use the bare block anyway, so it sitting doesn't seem to matter. What is a good price for this? Please don't tell me a low number and then ask to buy, because I am planning on posting elsewhere to see what they say and see if it matches up ( I'm not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, but if it's a hard commodity to come by or anything like that, of coarse I'm going to try to take advantage of it.) Thanks for any info.
