So I'm pretty confused, I didn't even beat on my car much today except for a couple 5-8 second pulls in 3rd or 4th today.

I pulled into a parking lot cause I saw a friend coming out of the store and I stopped next to her and we chatted for about 10 minutes, I let my car idle the whole time (yeah I should of turned it off) when she then asked me if I knew I had smoke coming out of my car. Sure enough I have white smoke coming out in puffs every time the engine loped from the cams.

So I drove it home, I pressure tested the coolant system, all was good - I replaced the radiator cap. I will say that I did a 2nd gear pull and after that the car quit smoking at all.

I then after pressure testing the system and replacing radiator cap, started it, and let it idle for around 8 minutes again at which it started puffing out white smoke again.

So then I set to work taking off the head. The headgasket looked perfect still, I mean my build has maybe 5000 miles on it, most of which are just highway with a a few dozen pulls and three track passes.

Either way I keep extra gaskets and parts of all kinds, so I put on a new water pump, replaced my MLS headgasket with a Evo MLS Headgasket I had. Put it all back together just about an hour ago, and started it, was fine. Let it idle forever, was like 6-9 minutes again and it started puffing smoke.

The smoke has a coolant smell to it, its VERY faint but it does smell of coolant.

Anyone have any idea? This is driving me nuts.

I know the head/block aren't warped, I checked them each and the car has never overheated.

I believe the FP Green is water cooled right? Maybe the turbo is passing some coolant. I mean you put a new gasket and pressure tested the coolant system so it can't be the motor itself. So I would look into the turbo from here on I would say.

Alright, well I took the above advice and put on my old Mitsubishi td06 20g which is still perfect (only 2k miles on it) and let it idle for a full 15 minutes with no smoking and then hit launch control and no smoke whatsoever.

I was hoping the FPGreen would last longer, I hear good things about them but I did buy it used with 12,000 miles on it from a car that blew up, so I'm sure it had a lot of hard miles.

Ordering a rebuild kit so I can rebuild it and shelf it incase I ever need it.

Anyways, my tune date is coming soon and I'm going to tell them I want 600whp and I already was skeptical of the Green getting me there, so I went ahead and ordered my new turbo about an hour ago. Borg Warner S364 64mm.. Breaking my bank :(

But it'll for SURE get me there.

glad you got it figured out. Get us pictures of your new baby when you receive it. :)
