So I'm pretty confused, I didn't even beat on my car much today except for a couple 5-8 second pulls in 3rd or 4th today.
I pulled into a parking lot cause I saw a friend coming out of the store and I stopped next to her and we chatted for about 10 minutes, I let my car idle the whole time (yeah I should of turned it off) when she then asked me if I knew I had smoke coming out of my car. Sure enough I have white smoke coming out in puffs every time the engine loped from the cams.
So I drove it home, I pressure tested the coolant system, all was good - I replaced the radiator cap. I will say that I did a 2nd gear pull and after that the car quit smoking at all.
I then after pressure testing the system and replacing radiator cap, started it, and let it idle for around 8 minutes again at which it started puffing out white smoke again.
So then I set to work taking off the head. The headgasket looked perfect still, I mean my build has maybe 5000 miles on it, most of which are just highway with a a few dozen pulls and three track passes.
Either way I keep extra gaskets and parts of all kinds, so I put on a new water pump, replaced my MLS headgasket with a Evo MLS Headgasket I had. Put it all back together just about an hour ago, and started it, was fine. Let it idle forever, was like 6-9 minutes again and it started puffing smoke.
The smoke has a coolant smell to it, its VERY faint but it does smell of coolant.
Anyone have any idea? This is driving me nuts.
I know the head/block aren't warped, I checked them each and the car has never overheated.
