Converting from a Talon to an Eclipse [Merged 3-8]

you could just use the talon mounts and long bolts with alot of washers...worked for me and was still on after the guy i sold it to hit a semi and totalled it :mad:
 
This question is for all of you who have done a talon to eclipse conversion or visversa. Have you ever been pulled over and questioned/hassled by cops b/c your plates are registered to a talon/eclipse but you are driving what appears to be a eclipse/talon? Get what I'm saying? I was thinking about doing this conversion when this though popped into my head. Not that it would really matter, but I was just curious if it has happened to anyone?

I would also like to know this... Good question BTW. My conversion is hopefully going to happen within the next year. Just the rear is going to change on mine though. :thumb: :talon:
 
Most people convert to the eclipse body, and when they convert, they usually don't do any eclipse badging like the mitsu emblem up front or the letters in the taillights. Even if they do hassle you, you can always point to the emblem on the steering wheel and be like, "Look son, I converted the body, but it still says Eagle/Mitsu."

Many cops are stupid when it comes to cars, and have no idea as to what they're pulling over...but surely there is at least one asshole that will try to get you for that..like an idiot...good ? :thumb:
 
I have a 1990 GSX with a 92-94 Talon front end. My car is completely debadged. The cop that wrote my ticket for my exhaust just went by whats on my registration.
 
I'm fairly sure unless you complete converted including mitsu emblems and all. Then they might be able to say something but all the kids with bodykits don't get harassed(not for that reason anyways). Just don't switch your Vin # and you should be good. Otherwise you could always call your local law enforcement agency and ask :thumb: *edit* i had a talon i converted and never got introuble :sneaky:
 
doing a conversion is just another body kit in a way, except with some "wrong" emblems on it.

And on another note, lots of cars have badges on them that dont belong, like a Toyota Corolla SE-R or a Nissan Sentra V-TEC

I've seen 'em. At least your "wrong" badges would actually be OK.
 
hey guys i would like to know how much aprox. it owuld costs to make a 95 eagle look like a 97-99 gst or gsx eclipse
 
why would you even bother? If you want an eclipse, they go out and buy one. I personally like the look of talons better than eclipses. When you get done with all the body work, paint, and new bumpers and sideskirts, you'll have been better off just selling the talon and buying an eclipse. Just my $0.02 though...............

I only did the front fascia and it cost me about $450 for a used bumper, paint, and headlights. I would expect to pay a fouple hundred more for sides and rear, paint, and rear taillights.

There are tons of threads on it, i remember one where someone listed all the parts needed and how much he spent on all of them. See if you cant find it.

Well, my personal experience is that the insurance is significantly cheaper for a Talon compared to the Eclipse. For me it was around $200 cheaper for a six-month insurance payment, plus the Talons are cheaper to purchase in the first place. But I do agree with you. Talons look sweet.
 
I have here a customers incompleted build('95 talson awd). He has a body kit that he blended in himself, and a halfway finished car altogether.....
-what I am looking at here is that the eclipse style rear tail lamps have three bulb locations per lamp......can someone please tell me the function of each bulb location, so that I can finish where he left off on this car? These are clear tail lights(for a '95 eclipse) with three seperate bulb locations, each having a red center color difuser for white bulbs.

(EACH TAIL LAMPS HAS AND NEEDS?)

*Outer most bulb location:(3 wires/brake-turn-parking light? or just 2 wires/parking light?)

*Center bulb location:(3 wires/brake-turn-parking light? or just 2 wires/parking light?)

*Inner bulb location(closest to the middle of the car):(3 wires/brake-turn-paRking light? or just 2 wires/parking light?)

**I already have swapped over the eclipse reverse lights and have dealt with the liscense plate lights for this conversion.....I just need to know the proper function of each bulb location in the rear tail lamp assembly!...please help with info.

Done the conversion for a friends talon. He has had no problem from the cops. Just me calling it a talipse :D :dsm: :talon: ?
 
There may have been an unnamed dsm owner who owned both a 2g n/t eclipse and a 2g talon tsi but only had one set of plates/registration/insurance written for only the eclipse. :shhh:
Worst part is that *this persons* talon didn't even have the full conversion done, just blacked out talon taillights for the most part. But I never got caught :rocks:


If you do a full eclipse conversion on a talon w/ all the giant badging and "eclipse" tailights at least some cops would have to say something. I wanna hear a story of a dsm owner getting arrested or something from this.
