Confused on this

OK first of all this is for me getting a car.
Currently i have my car title and under were it says "type of title" it says Transfer
yet i signed my name on the back of the title and my car hasnt been taged sence 2003 and now im wanting to trade my car for another Eclipse. What do i do. Ive had this car for about 2 wars and never had it in my name so im totaly confused and the guy i got my car from is now dead. What exactly what do i do, i need major help.

So title it in your name as if it were just bought, and then sell it if thats what your looking to do. Go to your local DMV and explain the situation, they can help you better than most im sure

I have called a DMV and they really have no idea what to do, its just a title that says transfer with the first owner the guy who i got it from (now dead) on the front of the title but i signed the back of the title along with my mother sence im 17 and i havent gone to a DMV to get it officaly in my name and it dont have a licence plate sence my state has gotten new licence plates in 2009. So what exactly do i do.
IF possable i can put pics of the title to show what im meaning.

dont put pix of the title. to much info there. if u do, use paint to block out the vin, and addresses and any other personal info. why dont u just title the car in your name?

I dont have the money to do so cause of back tags, itll tun me atleast 505 and i dont have a job. in honestly what am i to do?

I don't know what state your in but I know that the title you have should be for paperwork purposes and proof of purchase. And even though it sucks you will have to pay the fee to have the title made in your name. Where I am (NY) it's like a $100 fee to "transfer" the title to your name upon registration. And then you get the new title with your name on it.

Honestly your screwed because you signed the title. Until you title it in your name you can't do anything.

Im in Oklahoma (OK) and doing makeing a new title depends on age and your driveing ecord, 505 isnt with the back tags so itll cost more for me. Im just wanting to trade cars with someone in a few towns away that wants my car (my 92 eclipe for there 97 eclipse) and the trade is happing this weekend so im trying to get this problem sloved asap.

Right up a bill of sale and say you sold for 400. Have him do the same then you can just go to dmv for your new car. I have done it a few times and have bought cars with just a bill and got tittle later.

So in all honesty i can try o get a Billl if Sale and itll be fine? or do i need something else

Bill of sale wont do anything, if your not the legal registered owner of the car, you can't legally sell it.

Chances are this will take 4-6 weeks and a trip to the DMV. I have seen this kinda situation before and either he will get stuck with a headache or you will. I suggest being honest with the guy and doing as much leg work as you can. Go to the DMV and speak with the most knowledgable person available. I'd call ahead to ask if the person would be there and bring all paperwork when you go in and explain the situation. They may have a form to circumvent the need to title it in your name.

I live in Oklahoma. You're going to have to get the title in your name. Why didn't you do this year ago? Pay me now or pay me later. Looks like you chose the more expensive pay me later option.
