I had my car (90awd tsi) go in for a boost leak test and when the mechanic (happens to be dsm mech.) checked the crankcase, he said it was fine, he didn't hear anything. Can I assume that my rings are good? Or should I also confirm with a compression test?

I do have a strong scent of fuel in the oil, but I don't blow any smoke, unless it's when I launch or punch it, then it's all black. My engine only has 1,400 miles on it and is considerably modded.

I agree with above. Also as far as the fuel smell in with the oil...when was the last time you changed your oil? Also since he said "he couldn't hear anything" that gives me the idea that he was listening for any air coming from the PCV valve, and a clogged PCV could prevent not hearing or feeling the air coming out. Pull the PCV valve, and shake it. It should rattle around inside, if it doesn't rattle, then it's clogged( most likely).

thanks guys. to do a correct compression test, I have to disconnect the rear oil sensor, take out the fuel injector fuse, and then pull the plugs, and crank over the engine at WOT right? what can i expect for readings?
