2G Cometic or felpro mls

Hello I'm looking at getting a head gasket which is better the cometic or felpro mls? Also my car is a standard bore and the cometic makes a 85.5 and the felpro only comes in a 87

More important than gasket brand is making sure that you have the head shaved with a finish on it that you can see yourself in, and the block has to be just about as finely finished. That being said, I am not a fan of Cometic at ALL and I have installed alot of them on motorcycles before they even started making them for cars and was just not a fan of the cheapness of them, and I cant explain exactly what part was cheap of the gasket but it just didnt seem to be high quality if that makes any sense.

I just got my head and block back from the machine shop and they resurfaced and decked it. They said they took off very little on both

As long as the finish is super smooth, otherwise it will push coolant.

I've been told by a few tuners that it's better to use a stock head gasket because if anything on the car is going to blow, rather the head gasket then something in the block.

There is an oem Mitsubishi 4 layer metal head gasket available as well. I'm new to this and want to get the right one

Both block AND head surfaces should be resurfaced to properly run an mls head gasket. While different people may say different things, Cometic has specific guidelines to run their mls head gasket. Unless yo have head the block surfaced properly as well, run a composite gasket.

What surface finish is required to us an MLS head gasket?
A surface finish of 50 RA (roughness average) or finer, is recommended for a proper gasket seal. Anything rougher may conflict with the gasket design.
