If you dont have the cash to resurface the head, you need a composite gasket. It will squish and fill most voids and surface imperfections that are on the surface that would cause other gaskets to fail.

If you go MLS, or cometic without prepping the surface properly it will fail.

Thanks guys I was about to go cometic but I don't have the money to do the head I plan on taxes getting another head and a cometic head gasket I just don't have the time to wait on the head being surfaced or the cash either plus its my dd but I greatly appreciate all the help I got a gasket and I'm putting in arp studs

i alsways thought that i didnt have the money to get it resurfaced till i found out it was $30! I also went with the felpro composite since they say you need to resurace the block for the MLS
ps the resurface made a 20psi difference on my compression.

My Cometic only held up for about one season. It caused coolant to constantly push out my overflow, while compression tests had good results. So it only did it under boost.

I switched to a Fel-Pro Permatorque and all is good. The OEM composite gasket is also a great gasket.

I've had very good success with stock 6-bolt head bolts and the Felpro composite head gasket with boost pressures up to 30psi. I've also known personal friends to have the same experience (two people with 2gs).

When comparing the Felpro composite vs OEM I find theyre pretty much identical besides Felpro having its logo. Are there any significant differences?

+1 my exact thoughts even for the lifespan for the Blowmetic.

Cometic gaskets are really fussy. They almost require both mating surfaces to be decked and polished for it to seal properly. The felpro is rather pricy but is way more forgiving. Either way you definitely want a set of arp studs.

Cometic headgaskets suck ive tried them both ways with copper spray and without both leaked under higher boost pressures.

My Cometic pushed small amounts of coolant into the overflow from time to time, but I went back (after over year of this) and torqued the living crap out of it while it was still hot. It hasn't pushed any coolant since, and including the Shootout, I've been to the track (30 psi) at least three times.

Is there a good composite felpro because the one I got back in the day blew an inch out the gasket the 1st month it hit over 30psi. it was junk. Ive always stuck with cometic mls but ive seen friends with awesome results with oem composite and ARPS. Just go to your nearest local mitsu dealer and get a composite.
Imho though I dont feel like surfaces have to be as smooth as everyone makes it seem to run MLS's Ive never had the block surfaced just the head and Ive no problem running mid 30psi..
But if your car is only gunna see 30psi or less I would go with an OEM composite gasket for sure.

When hittig boost would it overheat??

Well I was looking over felpro and oem I just got paid and my buddy only has 1 day to do it next week so I grabbed the felpro and arp studs kinda so I could get it fixed and not ruin the entire motor waiting on parts I know on my car I cannot boost less than 15lbs I can take and twist the manual controller all the way out and it will run 15 lbs lowest

Made hp in the 400's with a GT35R at roughly 28psi on a $30 felpro head gasket from advance.... Tool steel studs but it wasnt the pressure that took it out. Nitrous at idle doesn't help much and took it out. It was completely user error, there was more potential for power.
