Replacing/Installing a cometic mls hg. What do I need to know?

I used a blade to scrape off the block surface to get rid of what looks like carbon build up or some sort of sealer. Also using a scotch brite pad and a little brake cleaner to clean the surface. Is that enough or do I need to do something else.

When installing the HG do I need to put some sort of sealer on the mating surface?

Head has been rebuilt and decked.

You need to have the block and head machined perfectly flat to use a mls and not have it leak! Your better of using a oem composite bro, unless that was done. You can use cooper spray on it! I use it on all the metal gaskets!

I snapped a t-belt and had to have the head rebuilt. Head was machined as part of the rebuild.
The block was machined about 30,000 miles ago.
I cleaned up the block surface and installed the head. Should be fine, right?

Yea man, as long as both surfaces are cleaned real well (sounds like you did), slap them together and go. No need to do the block again (just verify with a quick straight edge). I usually do a round of rubbing alcohol just prior to putting them together. Torque and go.
