I know this is a common thread but I still haven't found an answer. As the temperature drops it's been getting harder to start my 420a. I swear it only helps when I give it a little gas before I crank. If I give it gas as I crank it tends to sputter and die. I replaced the ect and battery, and I'm getting a cylinder 3 misfire as well as an o2 sensor unreadable code on the ecu. Could this be an injector problem even though she runs fine when she's warmed up? Mind you I haven't owned this car long so I don't know if this will happen all winter when the temperature is cold all the time.

Do a quick test, spray some starter fluid into the intake manifold while someone tries to start the car. If it fires up easily, you have a fuel delivery problem. If it does not, time to check spark.

Yes the car is still bone stock for now. Trying to fix all the minor problems before I start dumping money. So exactly how do I spray starter fluid into the manifold? Take the air hose off and spray through the throttle butterfly? Also, the plugs were changed by the previous owner, but I think he used Bosch plugs.

Like I said, I just replaced the coolant temp sensor and the battery, and the cell codes are for cylinder 3 misfire and bad or unreadable o2 sensor. The cylinder 3 code has been on there since I got the car 5 months ago and she runs fine. If the starter was bad, would it only happen during cold weather? As of now the problem is only first thing in the morning, but I'm worried it will happen all the time as winter sets in.
