cold start problems

i just bought a 90 laser 1.8 auto for $125. i put on a new starter,coolant temp sensor, and a used MAF.when i deleted the codes they came right back after less than a mile.i checked the ECU and found no smell or burnt spots on the board.is it possible that i need a new fuel pump it starts right up after its warm but in the morning it takes about 5 min to get it going. hope someone can help. im only getting about 19mpg i think it should be better.thanks

I have honestly never worked with a 1.8 before, but its porbably somethign fuel related. I know its cold as hell in Missouri, so its probably below freezing when youa re tryign to do this. If you are gettgin crappy gas milage its a good indicator that somethin aint right. Whether its the filter, injectors, pump...etc When its cold it needs that fuel. Is the pump getting loud? Do you have idle problems when its warm? Did you give it a good tuneup, plugs wires...etc etc?
There is probably a check valve somewhere along the return to the fuel tank that might not be working.

Since it was only $125, I would try little crap thigns first, plugs wires, FF, air filter, cleanout the TB and IM, then test the fuel pump and report back

it has a new fuel filter, plugs,cap and rotor. i was also wondering about the os sensor even tho there is no code showing for it. ill probably take it in to have the fuel pressure checked. i cant really hear the pump running. thanks for the help
