I've been around the DSM community for about a year or so now, i've learned a lot of stuff about these cars and are truely my passion. The problem im trying to bring forward is been bugging me for about 5 months, hence the post for any feedback. I've searched for cold start but nothing related to what im experiencing. Im hoping to get feedback on the subject to pin down a solution.

After the car cools down, overnight, sits for about an hour or so, when i turn it on(i have no problem turning it on) the car idles at 2,500 RPM - 2,600 for about a good 3-4 minutes and then it starts to drop back down. Once is warmed up, it has a miss, i've done quite some things to get rid of the disturbance with no luck. I've replaced the Spark plugs, wires, Ignition Manual, and coil pack thinking it was a spark issue. My next thing to look for is fuel, i might have a bad injector or i might not, I was going to buy a new set of 450cc today but i though i could see if any feedback is given on the subject before doing any random replacements since i cannot come up with a solution. I've also replaced the Injector resistor pack and made a noticable difference but there's still a miss going on. If i could take care of these two things, my dsm would be perfect. Reply back.

Dumb question, but have you tried using a engine cleaner? I had a similar problem so I put a can of seafoam through the engine(search for seafoam, LOTS of info on it) and it helped a WHOLE bunch. If that's not it, are your plugs gapped right? I tried using new plugs that weren't ngk and they didn't work right. You have to use ngk's for the car to run right.

I have a similer problem, when I first start it when it is cold it idles high at about 2,000 rpms and then it drops off to 1,000 which is good but if i hit the gas before it warms up it just boggs out and lopes around 2,000 rpms. I have to tap the gas several times to get it to work. Once it warms up and starts working it runs fine and I have no problems.

Well, i cant lose anything if i try the cleaner... I will do this tomorrow, this isnt a big issue but its just one of those things that would make your car perfect.

Get a can of Gumout carb spray. While the engine is idling and missing, spray around your intake to see if the engine "picks up" If it does, you have a vacuum leak. Check the pcv valve also as you can't hear it. Just pull the hose off and stick your finger over it. If it smooths out, bad pcv valve.

Be careful and don't ignite your hair. If the engine backfires while you're spraying, well, just be careful.

Do outside so as not to carbon monoxide yourself.

Safety first!!!

Good Luck
