Check they nuetral switch, it tells the ecu when your in gear. when it dies the ecu doesnt know to start the isc because it still thinks your in gear

Usually if the clutch switch is bad it will cause a no-start situation.

It could be the ISC, or your idle is set too low, or you have a boost leak, any one of those plus a few other things could cause that to happen.

The car magically starting back up again when you let the clutch out is just you pop-starting the car.

I had the same problem. My Idle Speed Controller (ISC) had a bad coil. The ISC has 4 coils and if 1 or more are bad the car will stall. There is an easy way to test the ISC with a multimeter: DmTaLoN's Idle Speed Control Test/Fix Page!.

In addition, if you have a bad coil it can burn up the drivers in the ECU over a period of time.

I want to hear what a boost leak could possibly have to do with a car dying in neutral.

First, never coast. Stay in gear all the time you possibly can. Fuel injection cuts off the gas supply when you close the throttle, so neutral does nothing but remove chassis control.

What's your idle speed set at?
