Toronto,
Last couple of days my car started to idle oddly.. but today I have narrowed it down. When I'm driving, the car runs nicely but when I shift gears, with the clutch engaged, the rpms drop really fast!

My clutch is almost done, not a whole lot of life left in it but i'm wondering why the clutch would cause the car to stall? I further diagnosed the problem and with the shifter in neutral, the car idles how its supposed to but as soon as I start engaging the clutch the rpms drop and the car stalls; this is all while the shifter is still in neutral.. any ideas?

I’ve had a problem like this happen to me twice.
One of the times my master cylinder was not holding back the fluid to allow proper pressure to be sent to the slave cylinder. The little valve inside went bad and a rebuild fixed that. So I would check the amount of travel the fork is doing, it might not be disengaging all of the way.

Another time this happed, it was for a totally different reason. It seems the person who owned the car before me pulled the plug wires by the wire and broke a few strands of wire in the process. Well over time it burnt through and started to arc to the hood or valve cover. And almost every time I put in the clutch it would dive down to 500 rpm or so.
