Excuse me for my noob ways. I'm building this car from a shell so I have no idea what I'm getting into. But does the 420a M/T need a flexplate since the clutch is modular? I bought a clutch from south bend and I don't see a flywheel with teeth riveted to it..just a fat chunk of metal that the pressure plate(?) is riveted too..
Help?

Thanks!

the pressure plate is not riveted to a flywheel please post pics ...

Ok I'm assuming you can see the clutch? The pressure plate can also be called the top hat it's the part with many fingers in the middle it should have something like 6 bolts holding it to the flywheel it should have the tiny teeth going around the whole thing now what are you trying to do?

If you ordered a couch disc only from south bend all you have to do is unbolt the "top hat" replace the clutch disc and put the alignment tool in the middle so it stays centered and bolt the top hat back on

Sorry I'm so noob...

Are you installing this on to a complete motor?

Mine is a 420a.. It says flywheel was Included and I don't see it there. They are saying that that thick metal thing is the flywheel, but it doesn't have teeth.. He told me I need a flexplate? I thought those were only for A/T..

That is most def a flywheel but it seems that what you need is a ring gear not a flex plate?

Ok to clear this up just looked into it a bit it looks as if they are two pieces

This should mount between the flywheel and the motor

Ahhh I see now. Thanks for clearing this up for me :D I was really lost for a while.

But on a different note is this just an ordinary flywheel? He clams it to be for a 420a but the three pieces with the two outer bolts on each piece makes me thing otherwise. Here is the link:

I would dissassemble the clutch and look at the fly wheel before jumping to far ahead it is def not riveted it bolted in 5 or 6 places

My clutch is riveted. It's modular.

I actually just figured it out. That Ebay link is false advertising. So I do just need the gear ring/flexplate/flywheel thing thing. Sorry for all the stupid questions, but I have to learn one way or another!

Thanks again:hellyeah:
