Ok guys I've been fighting a clutch drag issue for awhile. I searched alot of threads for information on my specific problems and have found nothing. I recently installed a ACT2600 with street disc and fidanza light weight flywheel. As my car being a 90 I also rebuilt the clutch pedal assembly. The main problem im having is that the clutch pedal has alot of play once I screw in the rod to the clutch master cylinder. I bleed it and the pedal travels almost 2in before it engages the clutch master cylinder. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Was everything in spec when you installed it?

Was the Step height on the flywheel correct for your clutch type?

Where does the clutch fork sit in the transmission housing?

I installed the oem clutch pedal rebuild kit from jnz tuning. What confuses me is when the master cylinder is not connected it engages with no slack. I connect the master cylinder and the pedal wont push it right away. Its alot of play and I can pull up on the pedal.

The lever IS the z bar so exactly what did you replace? The z bar alone often doesn't do it. If you look at the z bar where is attaches the hole is flattened on two sides. This hole gets worn out but does does the post it rides on. This is the pedal assembly itself. Both sometimes need replacement. What did you do? If you can still pull up on it I'd say you didn't fix the problem. Elaborate please.

Hey fellas thanks for the help and sorry for the late reply. It turns out that the nut that connects the zbar wasn't torqued properly causing the the pedal to round out. I have a entire rebuilt pedal assembly on the way that will be getting installed so I will let you guys know how it turns out.

I had a bunch of slop between the clevis pin and brand new pedal assembly. Finally found the bushing that goes inside the z bar hole connecting it to clutch master. Part number MB 555171 bushing.

If you can pull the pedal back up by hand, then you may not have tightened it down enough after the rebuild. You need to work (it ain't easy)and get a 14mm socket in the tube and on the nut. Make sure the pedal is all the way up and crank down on that sucker to get it tight. I had the same problem on my 92 back in the day and fixed it with a short socket with a 3" extension and used a 15" ratchet and got it as tight as I could. Fixed the issue.
