Clutch pedal low

i was driving to McDonald's today and when i was going to change gear i obviously pressed the clutch pedal to put it in 1st and the clutch pedal stayed on the ground :/ it wont come back up it cost me 65$ to toe it home in a 12 mile distance what could this mean :/ master cylinder dead?

For starters you could check the fluid level and also check for leaks but could be your slave cylinder or master cylinder. Here's a link that shows some troubleshooting for clutch issues its not exactly for a dsm but you can still troubleshoot the same way

Check for leaks and make sure the rod that connects the master cylinder and clutch pedal didn't disconnect. If you pull the pedal up and push it back in does it still stay down?

yes it goes down and stays that way :/ i have to pull it up

start looking for leaks. One place to make sure you check is inside the car near the rod that goes into the slave on the firewall. I had no noticeable leaks outside the car, it wasnt until i looked inside by the clutch pedal that i noticed my slave was leaking.

Start your inspection with the master reservoir, and look for leaks at the slave, or inside the cabin at the pushrod through the firewall.

that actually happened to me last week..woke up to warm up my car and the pedal just dropped and stayed there. it was my slave cylinder

make sure when you chance the master or slave you back pressure bleed the slave. alot of people dont do this and cant figure out why thier car wont go in gear

i think what he ^^^ is saying is have someone pump your clutch and hold it, then when u release the valve let the fluid and/or air run out then take your hand a push the rod (from the slave on the trans) back into the cylinder to blead the air out behind it. correct me if im wrong i may not be explaining it well.

Wow that's pretty cheap around my area that would have been like 200 I'm outraged .

Start with the obviouse first, look for leaks. Check your fluid level too. If the flud level dropped low enough for air to get into the system, that will cause your problem. The pedal is staying down because there is not enough pressure int the system to force it back up. If there is air in the lines anywhere it will caouse the pedal to stick. Air is compressable, and fluid is not, so when you press the pedal it will compress the air and not have enough pressure to return the pedal. The pedal return spring will help return the pedal to the original position, but after a certain point (near th floor) it will actually hold it on the floor.

ok, i bought both cylinders and now my problem is that there is no liquid coming down :/

Are you trying to say that you replaced both the master and slave cylinders, and you are trying to bleed the system?

If so, Slave Cylinder for the Clutch

I had a very hard time bleeding my clutch after I installed brand new act 2600, New master and new slave cylinder, aswell as ss clutch line. It took me 2days to trouble shoot why fluid didn't wanna come down. I tried doing it the single person way with the hose connected from slave nipple to a cup of brake fluid, but it just wouldn't work out. I then had to you a second person in the car pump the pedal, while I was under the car opening and closing the slave screw. What did it for me was, bleeding the slave cylinder itself(pushing rod back into slave body) and closing repeated that a few times. Then the rest was just normal bleeding, and sure enough! Rock solid (literally) pedal pressure!

same thing happened to my car 2 days ago..... check your clutch fluid if its empty/low then fill it back up with either dot 3 or dot 4 and as soon as you fill it up look under your car if it is leaking out of a line near your down pipe then it is your clutch line if it is leaking elsewhere it could be your Slav Cylinder.

You should not have the banjo fitting that is connected to the slave cylinder. The clutch line should go directly to the slave cylinder. Your clutch line looks way out of whack. Get new crush washers and bolt the line to the slave cylinder.
