clutch pedal feel

I bought my car with a new act 2600 clutch with the street disk installed and it feels different than normal. When depressing clutch about halfway it drops to the floor and when letting off it has some pressure and then springs up. There is no steady pressure like in a normal clutch. I'm not sure if this is normal for this clutch or do i have a problem elsewhere. It doesn't feel like there is a bleeding issue where it would stick to the floor.

Ya, that doesn't sound right. Have you checked your slave cylinder/rod?

I havent really dug into since motor is out of the car. It was burning oil really bad and the sellers thought was valve seals but after tear down found scored cylinder in #1 and an mls headgasket that had oil on top and under it. I mean covered. So I am unable to check the system too much but never owned and act clutch. So I was unsure. I have a centerforce on my trans am and that feels normal with steady pressure the whole way down and up. How would a sprung clutch feel? Would it feel like the symptoms I described? It has pressure up top and down low just not in the middle. The clutch is brand new. No heat marks or scratches on pp. Stickers are still on the disk. Is it possible to put the disk on backwards? I didnt pay attentin when I took apart?

check if the master and slave cylinder are leaking if not bleed the entire system. you should search vfaqs because it'a alot to explain. read this from RRE.

Sounds like you might just have some air in the lines. It takes forever to get it out.
