I was wanting to fix all of the slop in my clutch pedal assembly and I do not have the time to take out my entire assembly and reinstall it... I need the car working like asap. For a relatively quick fix that will at least last me a few weeks... do you think i could use JB weld to hold the the shaft to the bracket?

as seen in... where he takes the entire assembly out and welds it http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96981

Don't do a half assed fix. Do it right or you will have problems down the road. If you are concerned about time, it's not that time consuming to fix it properly. I don't remember exactly how long it took me but I know it was done in less than a day.

if you just need to make it work long enough to drive to a better place to work on it or whatever you might be able to shim the slop out with some small metal scraps.

You could always buy a new pedal assembly for about $75-100 and take the old one out and swap in the new if you don't want to weld it...But it'll happen again eventually. Or you could take the new one and get it welded beforehand, and just swap it in. It doesn't take that long to take out and put back in, its just a bi*** to get in there and do it. I hate working up under the dash...

yeah... so do i. i went to just adjust it... ### i thought that was the problem at first (### ya know... that's what the haynes manual says) but when I started reading on here and then checking it out, It was this problem. I guess tomorrow I'm gonna start ripping stuff outta there.. I won't have time to finish it, but maybe I can at least get the stuff outta the way. What exactly makes it so hard to come out after you have it unbolted and whatnot? The biggest problem I can think of right now is trying to either get the rod that screws into the bracket out or the bracket itself... ### i tried for like a good hour to do either of those things the other day when i was messing with adjusting it and whatnot but i couldnt' get up there at all. Just seems like it'll be a bi***.. But I guess that part will be easier with the rest of the stuff outta the way.

okay, now im pissed... well my clutch is working PERFECTLY now. BUT I took everything out to get my pedal assembly out (except for taking the actual assembly out itself..) but I decided to give it one last try at just adjusting it.. This time I was able to see good enough and reach up there good enough to get at it. and guess what... it cured the problem completely. the car is shifting perfect... no problems with clutch being engaged when pedal is at the floor... none of that. But it's funny because i had the EXACT same symptoms that the people had that had to weld their assembly, but just an adjustment fixed everything. Oh well...

At least I had some more of that wonderful under dash experience..

Good for you, getting down and diagnosing then repairing your problem. :thumb: Welcome to the wonderful world of Diamond Star Motors… :)

yeah my buddy has all the same symptoms as my car, and adjusting the master cyl out like 1/8th of an inch fixed all his problems. I took my car to my buddies shop that fixed his problems today and we were going to change the master and slave cyl since the master is leaking and he said the pedal assembly is worn, so it wont fix it. So we are going to do everything now. Good thing i ordered the assembly from dsmotorsports along with the slave and master so i can get it all done!!! i cant wait to shift again.

well, im still somewhat new... but i've been doin this for about 2 years now... damn car LOL. But thanks anyways. And thankfully today i managed to fix my big boost leak problem too. I had a REAL rough idle and the car would just break up in the high rpms... but i didn't see a visible problem in my boost gauge... i took off the coupler where i figured it'd be leaking and lo and behold it wasn't sealed very well... put it back on good and it feels good all the way to redline again.
