okay this is totally off topic for the 2g dsm but this is the only site that people really know there stuff that i been on with out being a douch. So what happen was i have a 2002 eclipse gt and just replaced the tranny but when i go inside to start the car the clutch pedal is extremly hard to push down i can not even start the car cause it is hard. what could this possibly be??????? It has a factory clutch and flywheel.

Id say kinked shut hydraulic line between master and slave cylinder, or perhaps the throwout bearing is bound up on the tranny somehow. Id check the line first as its easier than dropping the tranny. Im referring to the metal tubing being kinked shut, not a hose.

okay i checked the line and if there was any kinks..... nothin... :( i think or i have a really funny feeling the release bearing is hitting something in the tranny...... :"( i dont wanna drop that dam monster :(

Yea its gonna suck but sounds like the throw out bearing getting caught up if not the line

couldn't it also be the pressure plate "fingers" (my boss referred it to fingers for whatever reason) getting in a bind some how? once upon a time while was driving my clutch pedal suddenly got stiffer for a couple of shifts then back to normal...then clutch slipped a bit so i then gave the clutch a full press then the slipping went away, momentarily then the next shift the pedal was hard again so i gave it a swift kick the the pedal went back to normal & the slipping/hard pedal issue has yet to return *knocks on wood*

The 3 g Eclipse's have a pull type clutch and pressure plate setup, not like the 1st and 2nd gens. That is if you have v-6. If you have v-6 the ring is binding with throwout bearing. The 2.4 has the push throw out bearing setup. Would need more information to help you further. Also on the bottom of the transmission there is plug (inspection) remove and inspection the movement. Sounds like if you have v-6 the pull ring or spring fork are warped or broken (fingers). Good luck
