I just put a new shepherd tranny in along with an act 2600. I cant seem to get the clutch to go all the way to the floor? The pedal gets really hard about 3 in off the floor and wont go all the way down. The slave cylinder is brand new. I tried to adjust the master cylinder but the locknut will not loosen. The rod just spins freely without even loosening the nut. Is this a bad master cylinder or is some other crazy thing making this happen?

I dont understand how I am suppossed to adjust it if the lock nut is not going to do its job. I could spin the rod all day long but if the locknut is not going to keep it in place, the rod will just spin back to where it originally was.

ok master cylinder has been replaced but I can not seem to keep pressure in the sysytem. I pumped and pumped and bled and bled about 30 times, still the clutch just falls to the floor. no matter how many times I bled it I was never able to pump it by foot. I had to pump it by hand to bring it back off the floor every time. I also tried adjusting the master cylinder rod and it did not seem to help. Im getting desperate to get this thing working right. I reallt dont lknow what else to try.

are you bleeding the system by yourself? I have a speed bleeder that I used for when I did mine last month, though I didnt get all the bubblies out, so if your bleeding by yourself I suggest trying it the old fashioned way and bleed it with somebody else. Just my .02 because thats what worked for me... until on the way home my TOB took a shit.

Yea I was bleeding it with two people. But I cant even really get the slave to puch on the shift fork. Im going to pull of the transfer case tonight and make sure the tranny is mounted to the motor perfect. Im thinkin its possible one of the dowel pincs is cocked or something which would make up for the 1/2 in or so that I would need for the slave to work right. Ill post an update.

As I suspected...the botom dowel pin on the tranny was sticking about a half inch out. It was causing the slave not to push on the shift fork. All is aligned now and the car is back together running and shifting well. Thanks for the help guys. dsmtuners has always been there when I have been in need.
