I have my radar plugged in and it would work fine everyime, out of no where it stopped turning on, but the light around the outlet still lights up when the key is " ON".

and yes i checked the fuse to make sure it wasnt blown, and its not.
I checked all grounds and they seem to be fine.

what could be the deal? i really need my radar LOL

You might have to see what the deal is with the spring. I can't think of the name. Cause when you push in the cig lighter it heats up to a certain degree or whatever causing it to spring back out. What relates to that could be your problem. I am having the same issue.

Have you tried plugging anything else in?

Maybe the problem is on the radar detector side....

Does the cigarette plug from the radar detector have any circuitry in it? If the wires are just soldered to the connectors I would just hard wire it and be done. If you don't want it hard wired just use a molex plug or something to make it removable. Do you have a test light or a multimeter? Testing the lighter outlet is the most basic electrical test. If it isn't working you might have to trace the wiring.

I plugged the radar into a friends car and it works perfectly, and i've been wanting to hot wire it in cause i hate having it stick out of the outlet. for that i could just solder a ground and a hot wire that comes on accesory?
