I have a wife as well. What it comes down to is that there is something about turning a non running piece of junk into somthing better.

It's like discovering fire for the first time all over again LOL.

Wow that is one exploded clutch, what's with the turbo manifold though? And the wiring looks pretty hacked. If it is just a project though that's a pretty good find, i would rip the motor out, go over the wiring, and clean up the body before anything, otherwise your going to have to work that around other crap breaking or needing fixed.

So do you guys think the carpet is salvageable? It's pretty nasty. Anyone have any tips for the cleansing of the carpet? LOL. Thinking about taking it to the car wash and just blasting it a bit to see. Otherwise I will need to replace it..

Take it out and power wash the f*ck outta it haha

I literally had to peel it out of the car.... Somebody spilled a couple of drinks LOL... I made a lot of progress today, I should be able to pull the motor in the next few days... Moving right along.... I did have icy pipes...... :( I threw my turbo manifold on there just to check fitment since I can't find anyone who has one.. Fits great! Looks great! Not bad for OBX I'll tell ya...

Use a degreaser and preasure wash that pig. If it dont clean up, then a die job might be in order, if u are on budget.

Dye it gray? Does it match oem pretty good?

Yeah, I'm going to be going over all wiring etc.. I just wish it wasn't so damn cold so I could do some body work. Surprisingly it's all pretty damn straight! Just needs to be sanded and primed for paint. I'll be doing everything from the wiring, motor work, and paint/bodywork myself. Can't wait until warmer weather comes.... I might just have to find a good heater for the garage because I don't think I can wait that long....

Well u could go black thier is a thread on doing this. And u can pick up the die at walmart for cheap. Its Rite and at my store its in the luandry area.

Idk, black would look kinda funny in a all grey interior... I did the black dye in my other 2g and looks great because I have black interior to match. But idk about all gray and then black carpet.....

Get some purple power and scrub it down, take it to a car wash and pressure wash the heck out of it, I ripped my carpet out this past summer and went to town for a few hours, I was happy with the outcome.

True it is still fwd. But it does have bennifits or my old 420a driveline. This old timer has quite a few tricks up sleave that dont get shared.

I have some aluminum drag rims with slicks and lug nuts i used on my 2g gst i'll let em go for 250 bucks, race season is on it's way :D

Nice buy too, waiting to see where this build goes, I love the turbo's non turbo cars... the trans may not be as strong (i don't know) but i do know the gear ratios makeit a mean S.o.B. when turbo'd. I tuned a MSnS for a guy from here on tuners that lived in Sioux City once and when we were done, even on a fairly low boost of 22-23psi iirc, we were roasting third gear merging onto the interstate (it was an E85 tune)

The non turbos respond really well to boost (as you all know) and i've noticed the 420a head just like hondas has better exhuast velocity than 4g63 heads do and spool the same turbo faster (his was 50 trim and mine was 57 rtim and he was pulling 500-600RPM earlier to the same psi not even tuned for it where as i had spent years perfecting my tune for spool and great power

I got some grey carpet but tan interior (my OEM is SHOT..don't ask LOL) so i gotta clean and dye/paint it.. Anyone know where to get that "carpet paint" at? I think i might do that rather than dye it because i painted carpet in the past when getting Semi's ready for sale (used) but we used plain spray paint and it came out well, i'd like to try the carpet stuff that's just for carpet

Purple power orange citrus is the sh1t!!!!! Iuse it on laundry, PC and TV monitors/LCD's, my interior plastics and more... there's nothing i don't try that on first when it comes to stain removal and cleaning delicate surfaces, although made for cars supposedly it kicks the ass off oxi-clean LOL

Is one of those tricks how you managed to close the stock hood? From your pics I also assume you do not have a hole in your firewall? You get some video proof of that thing running and you will be marked down in the record books.

@OP. There is something to be said about starting with a piece of crap and ending up with something nice.

black and grey will be just fine!

You can rap the center part of your door panel with black leather to make everything blend in nice.Get a 5 gallon bucket and a small box of cloth dye at a rag shop.Make sure you clean in first to get all the sticky jiz out!

I picked up smashed up 92 vette with 27,000 miles on it for $2500.I pulled out the seats and the power swiches to go with them,Then I sold the rest of the car on ebay for the same $2500.The guy that bought it used the motor and drivetrain in a 57 vett resto mod.I hate to see total outs goin to the scrapper.

you can also buy whole dyed leather skins and wrap your whole interior if thats your thing.
