So i got a 14B turbo in my 2g, im guessing probably has around 250k miles on it. JNZ tuning said i should replace it soon before things go bad. They also said my setup could definatly support a 20g. Anyways, im only 18 and im on a tight budget and ive heard some good things about the cheap ebay turbos, and ive also heard theyre crap. experience with both situations would be awesome! Also, i know the 20g wouldnt be a direct bolt on, so what else would i need to complete this build?

If you have the right stuff to have a 14b on your 2g.Any MHI turbo will be a direct bolt on now..

Ebay turbo's are generally junk..Mine lasted a year, and less than 2000 miles..There cheap for a reason..Some people have had great experiance on them..But most will tell you there junk..

Your better off going with a 20g from a reputable vendor..The higher price, is nothing when you compare quality...

For the price of an eBay 16g you can you can get a used mhi 16g here in the classifieds and it would be a bolt on since money is tight right now. Also Justin can rebuild your 14b for a great price. eBay turbos are a toss up I got lucky and pushed 20psi on mine for years with no issues.

Save you money for a good quality turbo. If the turbo that is on the car doesn't have any shaft play and doesn't burn any oil than run it. You get what you pay for with turbo's.

Alos your profile says garret 16g turbo, not 14b..Please make sure your profile has the right mods in it, so we can better assist you in the future..

Hey bud trying to get some rep points? Lol

Just alot of easily answerable questions today..I'm not an expert on everything, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't help out with things I do know about..Rep points are just a bonus..

check classifieds for a used 14b cheap enough, or even a rebuild one and your good to go, got mine years a go lasted for a long time before i upgraded.

my bad haha the guy i bought the car from stated it was a 16g but it ended up being a 14b and i forgot to change it :p

but im lovin the feed back.... and theres a lot of good deals in the classified section.

how much boost/hp is a 20g capable of?

I haven't been in the DSM game for very long, but I totally believe you get what you pay for. Same holds true pretty much whatever "performance parts" you buy for any type of car. Run your turbo until you can't anymore, while saving up for a good quality one, and then buy it when you A) Have enough money to purchase a good part, or B) Blow out your 14b. Just my .02. :D

whats your guys opinions on OBX turbos? theyre not too expensive and seem pretty legit

Generally it's just another ebay turbo.
Get a cheap 14b get it rebuilt and start saving your money for a real mhi 20g down the road

Btw you can get a cheap 14b and have it rebuilt for about the price of an ebay turbo

Ahh the 20g..Easily capable of 400hp, with minimal lag over 16g..Not a bad turbo even for street use..

Agarc023 said it right...A used 14b, and rebuild will cost you the same as the ebay junk..And last much longer..

Probably the most-debated topic on this site. There is no right or wrong answer- type "eBay turbo" into the search bar and you'll find a plethora of threads that lead to nowhere...basically the same road this one is headed down.

All of your other questions regarding OBX turbos and external wastegate setups are highly searchable as well.
