I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good clutch kit that was under $200, because I am on a tight budget right now and cant afford an ACT clutch.

Why do I hear people sayin that you need an extended rod with the ACT clutches then? Supposebly it wont disengage the clutch and the tranny wont go into gear or it will grind.
(nevermind answered it)

Yep.

And also visually check your fulcrum ball, fork, tob retaining clip, and master/slave. If anything looks wrong or either of the cylinders are leaking, replace them. Or if you didn't do it when you put the XTD in, it might be a good idea. You don't want your brand new ACT going out on you, do you? You might also want to consider getting a SS clutch line too.

Yes, replace the TOB with a new oem one. They are only like $25 and I have seem them go bad a coupe times. $25 is cheap insurance so you don't have to rip out the tranny just to replace a stupid $25 part.

What else should you do.. If it has a lot of miles replacing the rear main seal wouldn't be a bad idea, however I've never done mine and it has 125k with no leaks. Also put some fresh new trans oil in the transmission. Other things you can do if they look really worn would be to place the pivot ball for the fork or at least grease the one you have if it's not worn. You can also space the ball out about 1 mm if you'd like just to make sure that clutch is fully disengaging.(Much better idea IMO than extended slave rods etc) Also, freshly bleed the clutch when you get everything back together.

I meant to replace the ball and clutch fork last time but had no time I had to put it back together, so the ball is shimmed and stock fork. Im going to replace both and the TOB, also I hear to replace the rear main seal?

is 189,000 miles a lot? LOL I changed the axle seals last time and the TC seal too so those are good.

Hi. I'm in the market to get a new clutch. I'm still running a stock clutch on my gsx. Anyone know any cheap reliable clutch that i should get? And since my clutch is still stock does this mean i need to get an upgraded flywheel? and what other parts should i get for the upgraded clutch? Thanks

If you plan on keeping your car around stock horsepower i would get a SBR 3500 or an ACT 2100 (Pretty much the same damn thing).

yep like the crowd... cheap clutch 2100 ACT ... just enough power to hold mild modded car ... drivable and nice feel..

I think the 2100 ACT and upgrade the flywheel since you have the tranny off anyways. But if your not going to upgrade the flywheel you are going to have to get the one you have resurface.

If your really not planning on pushing the car too far, I would just go with the ACT 2100 and street disc. This will yield the best longevity and drivabilty. I personally like a heavier clutch though and a more direct feeling of engagement. I have a fidanza 3.2 in my spyder and a ACT heavy duty pressure plate with 6 puck sprung disc. But of course I dont expect either one of these to last too long.
