I'll be offering rides for sure. It's going to be rowdy. No accessories besides alternator. Fully straight piped. 13lb wheels and gutted interior. Prelude front seats. Once it runs I'll be taking it across the weight scale. My ultimate goal is 2200 pounds, but I don't think I'll achieve that until the 5 speed swap. I may have to wait a while before going long distance. Because I'm fairly confident that the transmission will get destroyed soon.

H23 bolted in place. Need to finish up some wiring and all fluids, buts it's bolted in at least. Since this was an LX originally, I'm having to run some wiring for the ITB's and the knock sensor. I could run it without both but I'm adding it for now.

Got it running and driving. Unfortunately I was right though. In less than an hour I had catastrophic failure. I'm not yet sure what failed, but I'm almost betting on the flexplate breaking. Everything was fine for a little while. It was pulling hard and I was getting up to 90 fairly quickly. While engine braking I heard horrible grinding and knocking noises. Quickly turned the engine off. When I try to start it again, the torque convertor spins rapidly and the engine's rotating assembly doesn't budge. I triple torqued the flexplate bolts, so I'm assuming the center of it is still attached to the crank and the outer ring is still attached to the torque convertor, but they are no longer one. I can't express how enthused I am to pull it apart after 3 long days of work and being able to drive the car for less than an hour. Such is a project car though, and I called it.

It may be 1:50 in the morning, but this guy could use a cold beer.

Had a chance to look again in the daylight with my head on straight. The crankshaft itself is rotating but the camshafts are not. Something didn't add up with the flexplate getting sheared off. So I've probably broken the timing belt. 😕 It's not old at all. I installed the more expensive Continetal timing kit last year or the year before. Based on the noises, I probably have ruined valves. I guess even though the belt is recent, it has been through a lot of stress. 2 accidents can stress a lot of parts in a lot of ways. I've heard of people getting away with a new belt, but I doubt that's my case. I've already spent too much cash on getting this thing going, so to the backburner it goes again.
