I’m in the final stretch of a 99 Spyder N/T 4g64 to a 4g63t head swap with a 16g.
Sooo much is in involved. I have a huge thread going on it.
Everyone here has been extremely helpful. There is no way I could have done this without this group for support and knowledge.

One thing - I tend to order things and realize much later I messed up and got the wrong thing.
In this case it’s the catback exhaust I originally purchased, months back.
I installed it, went in nice and easy and looks great.
Then I got a downpipe. And this part was tricky because there aren’t much options for my setup.
I went with a RnJ performance downpipe. It’s listed as 3 inch to 2.75. It totally eliminates the stock cat. Which is not a big deal for me.
The problem is the catback I got fits the stock 2.25 cat, it does not fit the 2.75 downpipe.

I measured the flange end from the downpipe to the catback and it’s a flange for a 3” catback.
Now I have a few options.
1. Get a new 3” catback that fits.
2. Get a different downpipe that fits my existing catback/catalytic converter.
3. Modify the catback and/or downpipe to mate without any exhaust leaks.
If I can find a decent catback that won’t wake up the neighbors I would love to go with option 1. But i really would want it as silent as possible.

If I can’t find anything I will make option 3 work.
I’m not a welder, can’t weld for my life and don’t own one. And unfortunately don’t have friends or contacts that can either.
If I do end up going with option 3 it will be me getting a 3” to 2.5” (one of the Subaru ones) flange adapter and modifying it to fit the bolts.
I know going from a 3” downpipe to a 2.25” catback is not great. But I’m not doing this for racing, so it’s ok for now.

So my main ask;
Can anyone recommend a good 3” catback for a FWD 2g?
The more silent the better. Remember, it will be without a catalytic converter.

A cheap no name brand made in China for like $100. Think it’s 3” SS with a 4” “silenced” tip.
If I remember correctly it was from ECCPP.
Ended up getting whatever I could find that I knew would fit at the time.
It fit my stock downpipe/cat fine. But after changing the manifold and adding the turbo I needed a new downpipe.
The downpipe I ended up getting from jnj performance.
The catback didn’t fit the new downpipe flange. And ofc I had to remove the stock cat conv.
So made an adapter between the downpipe and catback which works fine.

Preferably I would like a catback that fits my existing 2.75” downpipe correctly, and one that isn’t so darn loud. If I need to throw in a new cat conv. I will.
And understand it most likely wont be nearly as cheaply priced as the one I have now.

I just honestly have no idea what fits and what’s more quiet.

I had the no name 3inch down pipe going to an ebay "3in" exhaust and had the same problem

you can buy an exhaust adapter piece on ebay, its a 2 bolt dual flange with one opening 3 inches and the other end 2.5

it worked, but it took up extra space. i also had problems with boost creep. the car would overboost and hit fuel cut. i put the stock down pipe back on and it eliminated the problem

my suggestion is to run a stock down pipe and gut the cat. there arent any good aftermarket exhaust options besides having a muffler shop make you an exhaust system.
