ok so i just installed my punishment racing fmic kit, and the car just cranks and cranks but wont start. it smells like gas, and the one time i did keep the gas pedal down a little to keep it running black smoke was coming out and it was running soooooo rich it was poping and so i just let it die...whats going on boost leak if so where are major problem areas or what else could it be it was running awsome with the stock side mount in

I always just go over EVERYTHING that I touched. Make sure MAS is plugged in, etc etc. Even with a really bad leak the car should start, unless you completely forgot to tighten a coupler or something.

everything is good my one buddy said it might be an intercooler pipe cause it sounds like a subaru if i hold the gas down LOL

mas is plugged in first thing i did LOL

Subaru? Sounds like it's only running on two cylinders.

The thing that I ALWAYS mess up when working on my car, is the damn connector to the coil transistors. My connector is really shitty and comes loose easily.

Any time I reach back there to work on anything (I just did my knock sensor this weekend) it ends up getting nudged a bit and runs on two cylinders until I re-seat the connector.

I'm not sure if 2g's have the power transistors in the same location, but it's worth trying. Only a transistor or coil problem will cause the car to run on two cylinders, assuming everything else is how it should be.

Check the firing order if you messed with the wires at all.

so i got it all figured out. i just went around and tightened all the tbolt clamps and the tb elbow bolts and it fired right up drove it around the neighborhood a bit and got on it to test it all only poped 1 coupler at about 16 pounds the first time, second time after i tightened that everything was good to go. but now i have another issue now everything is good it fires right up and idles perfect and what not, but it blows a little bit of smoke couldnt tell cause it was dark i think it was white but it smelled kinda oily and gassy. it wasnt like clouds of smoke or anything just some coming out of the tail pipe at idle no clouds while driving either, could be cause its kinda cold out but it was a continuous stream puffing out any ideas what that could be boost leak?

plugs possibly fouled a little bit? had something like you had going on before and plugs were just fouled some. you would think it would be okay after driving it some and letting it burn off, but if its running rich at idle still and you think it might be some unburnt gas, try some new plugs.

well i only noticed it when i got out of my car from driving it and the turbo timer was counting down and it wasnt a ton of smoke just enough to get my attention as i was checking everything out from the install

heres a pic of the kit if you guys wanna check it out!:hellyeah:

is your engine running hot by chance? wonder if you got some gas mixed in with your oil when it wouldnt start, might have flooded it out some. just something i thought of, but i dont really think it would cause any smoke as you described unless some of the mixed oil and gas was getting burnt.

no it wasnt idleing or running hot when i was driving it might be the plugs i need to change them soon anyhow and i did get a little oil on my hands at one point did an oil change maybe i go some inside one of the pipes from grabbing it or one of the couplers or something LOL idk i need to do a blt too

im gonna go tomorrow before work and grab a new set of ngk copper cores see if that fixes it up if not ill be at a loss LOL so does anyone else have any ideas if doing the plugs doesnt work

My bro has the same kit on his 2g awd and he had the same exact plroblem. What he did was forgot a peice of foam packing in one of the ic pipes that restricted the majority of the air flow, and made the car run pig rich!!
Did your piping have in foam/newspaper packing in it to keep dirt and debris out, if so take off all your ic couplers and look inside them, and also look in the ic core to see if anything traveled in it to block air flow?? Good luck

haha yea i checked all that when i got it out first thing i did washed everything out made sure nothing was in there

haha yea, i get those every now and then but i took my time and figured out what it was i had a lose coupler and forgot one of the tb bolts :ohdamn:
