car wont go into gear??

alrite so i was driving on the hwy and i put it in neutral to stop and guess what hahaha it wouldnt go back into gear. if the cars off i can put it in gear and turn it on and it will drive just cant switch gears.so i think the clutch is still good.i had it towed home and looked at by a mechanic and he said everythings in working order no leaks anywhere it probably an internal problem. also the clutch got stiffer once its pressed halfway its like it dosent want to go down. any suggestions before i pull the tranny and find everythings fine. thanks guys

Try bleeding the slave cylinder.

Check your clutch engagement issue. I would check your clutch fork. Make sure its not broke or bent
