Its a 91 Laser, so I know the knock is monitorable. My Palm DataLogger will never read any knock, and neither will my S-AFCII. I figured my knock sensor was bad, so I replaced it today w/ a new one, and nothing, it still wont monitor any knock. now dont go saying "maybe you just aren't knocking", b/c it must be getting some count of knock at some point and time. I checked the wires by the ecu and the detonation sensor wire is fine and I just dont know what to do now, Any Suggestions? Thanks, Dan

I would not count on the SAFC2 to ever read knock. The logger however should be accurate. What kind of mods are you running, and how much boost?

Yes, I know not to trust the S-AFC for knock, but I was just stating that neither it, nor the logger monitors any knock at all. Mods for now are in profile, but if you dont want to looks, they are basic 3" ex, intake, GM maf, maf Translator, running about 14 psi.

I have the same problem. I have a Knock sensor LED mod and pocketlogger I haven't seen any knock for a long time and am hesitant to run high boost until I can verify the circuit is working. I even removed the sensor and tapped on it with a hammer, with three sensors two 1Gs and a brand new 2G, and received no knock. I have also heard that the 2G sensor is better and will work on a 1G but I get a Knock Sensor fault every time. I also have a TMO stage 3 chip as well, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Hopefully we can figure this problem out.

the only thing i can think of its in the wiring circuit. Our cars are going to knock, sometimes. I dread going through the electrical.

I checked for voltage and I have 8.45v. So that would tell me that the wiring is right. The only thing that I can think of is that there is something wrong with the computer.

what all are you trying to monitor your knock with?

ever think you arent knocking? turn the boost up a few lbs and make a pull

yeah i thought of that, however I turned up the boost to 15 psi, and it creeped to about 19 or 20, on stock fuel system. I made several pulls like this.

does the timing take a dip like it is knocking?

I too boosted to 20 psi and no knock. The other thing is just crusing at 3K my timing is at 36 degrees. For some reason the computer is pulling back the timing.

i hadn't really notice, what should i look for? I beleive it only start retarding when i floor it, i dont think i can get it to did below 16 degrees

well, it must not be my electrical, b/c today somehow, i managed to get the logger to read 1 count of knock during a few 2nd, and 4th gear pulls. It only read 1 count and not for very long, so i assume everything is actually working good.

At what count is too much knock?

Removing the sensor from the block and hitting it with a hammer will not test anything.Th e base of the sensor has to be grounded.
