My brothers car is a 93 talon N/T 2.0. It has been acting up majorly. It will run fine for a little but once it warms up it starts attempting to stall. The RPM guage only goes to 2000-2500 thats it but the needle will go from 2000 to like 5000 but no change in rev. Then soon as you let off the gas the CEL comes on and it stalls, we changed the fuel filter, air filter, check the MAF, all the tune up.. and answers or help will be great thanks.
 
Next time it throws the cel, go straight to an advanced auto or auto zone to get it checked out and don't turn off the car either. What ever the problem is that's causing the cel is prob. getting reset once you turn the car off.

Is his car manual or auto?
 
its a manual and those stores only check 1996 and newer nothhing older than that.
 
Ok so the tachometer stops at 2500 but the engine revs go higher? Have you checked the basics like dirty battery connections? If your gauges are acting weird and other strange electrical issues are happening it sound like a ground problem or corroded terminals.
 
Does the engine sound match up with your speed or does it seem like your clutch is slipping?

I agree! i would also suggest if you have access to a ecu i would swap it out. some times this is a sign of an ecu going bad. ie. leaky caps.

Did that yesterday nothing changed, i seen everything is cleaned, Sometimes it ill rev high out of know where. It sounds like it is missing but everything is timed, it studders after you switch gears, sorta like a roller coaster ride.. LOL

you can check the CEL code if there is one by using an analog multimeter and read the sweeps or a
12v buzzer and listen to the buzz to see if any codes get thrown. If you want to check it.

You said you already tried swapping out the ECU? Is it possible the ECU that you swapped in wasn't in any better condition?
 
i dont know if it is good we got it at the junk yard, the car we got it from had only 100000 miles, can we test these?
