Ok so i have been having a problem with my 90talon tsi for about a week now. The car wants to stall, I give it gas and it will eventually idle It was reading at 10k vac which i changed some lines it sits about 15 now. The fuel pressure gauge is reading like 30psi. When i drive the car it hesitates to go... Idk it sounds like a sqeual but i checked all the piping. My honeycombs
from the maf are out... They were like that when i got the car... Idk if thats the problem some people tell me its never a good thing to take them out... anyways I need help and some sort of direction on.The car wants to go but something is holding it back idk what though.:talon: :talon: :talon: :talon:

How did you check all of your piping? If you did not perform a Boost Leak Test then you did not check your piping properly.
Once you've determined you have no boost leaks (only when you are able to hold about 20psi for about 30 seconds without it leaking down) then you can Check Your ISC.

yeh im aware of that I just wanted some other ideas on what it could be... I'm doing the test today thanks for ## response!!!:talon: :talon:

Mine did this just before my MAF went out, and the car overheated, the turbo blew and maybe the head gasket as well, currently in the process of assessing the damage. I'd definitely check that out though ... it seemed to get worse as my car got closer to blowing up.

i would definetly suggest a boost leak test. I just did one out of boredom and found 5 leaks in my system. Its a very over looked maintenance routine.

Turn your fuel pressure up.

He mentioned that his fuel pressure gauge is reading "about 30 psi"...Stock should be 36.3 w/ vacuum hose disconnected, and approx. 27 with hose connected (on a 1g Turbo M/T), so he is within a reasonable range of acceptability here.

Good call on something to check out, but I don't think people should just be blindly turning up their fuel pressure without just cause. brygsx95, did you set your AFPR at stock levels, or is this reading lower than you'd expect? Have you done any of the vacuum hose elimination mods?

Almost seems like you've got a MAF problem. Locate/borrow an unhacked one if you can, and see if that accomplishes anything.

Are you getting any CELs or error codes?

Fuel pressure is a possibility, but I'd like to see you explore other areas before we delve into the fuel system unnecessarily.

Oh, and definitely Boost Leak Test it, and check your Spark Plugs/Wires ;)

True, but it wasn't clear from his post whether the reading was with the vacuum line disconnected. I ASSumed that, since he was messing around with the vacuum lines, the reading was with the vacuum line removed.

...or possibly a good MAF that has become disconnected. An intercooler pipe coming loose is also a possibility from his description of the problem.

brygsx95, it would also be helpful to know if anything significant occured just before you started having your problems.

30psi of fuel press? im running 60-65 with my walbro 255lph, is this too high? oh you might want to check your TB for dirtyness ive been having some crazy warm up idle probs much like yours but once car is warm it goes away.

Good call :thumb:

I'd imagine you'd be able to identify this one visually (and audibly) pretty quickly....But hey, sometimes it's the obvious things that slip past unnoticed, eh? ;)

OMG.. really with only reading -10 at vac its definetly a air leak of somesort you would be around 18-20.. im still trying to track one down and my guage reads -20, but 18-20 is reasonable.. that would probally be your primary concern.. depending on area you can eliminate a lot of vac line's with the emission's crap, check out the link below and fallow it closely..

also are you running larger injector's? if you are, how are you controling them?

ok the car wont rev past 2k so its proably the mass air. I disconnected it and the car ran exactly the same way as if it were connected. So I've narrowed it down that im begining to really find this dsm to be a pain in the butt. Uh... well anyone know where i can get one for pretty cheap that someone didnt hack all up....hence my previous owner decided to mess with it and i think thats why it shit the bed.

Glad you located the problem.
You can usually find plenty of stock units right here on DSMTuners...If you can't view the Classifieds yet, check with a vendor like DSMotorsport. They typically keep quite a few good used stock parts on hand.

Good luck - shouldn't be hard to locate such a common part :) I'm sure you'll get a few PMs ;)

BRYGSX95....i live in poughkeepsie too, i got a 1g maf with a close to new kn for sale if u need it or just the maf...it also has the plug that attached to the car's harness if you need it for any reason... pm me if your interested
