Being that this is my first turbo DSM, I have noticed that when I am driving around town if I go WOT in 3rd at 2.5k RPM i have next to no power for a good 10 seconds then it really takes off.

Is this normal for a DSM? is it just a lack of outside boost torque?

I haven't actually launched the car yet and gone through the gears only going WOT in 2nd and 3rd so I could just not be noticing it.

Car is 100% stock btw.

Turbo lag, its normal.
10 seconds however doesnt sound normal at all, especially on the stock turbo.

It would probably be more helpful to know what RPM the power hits at.

Maintenance is done and the car doesn't seem to be running bad, I was just more curious if all the power in these cars is up in the 4.5k+ RPM range as I have never really stomped on it to redline.

This is going WOT at about 2.5k cruising in 3rd, power hits at about 3.2k 10 seconds is an overstatement probably really only takes 2-4 seconds

Sounds perfectly normal to me.
Just downshift to get you in the sweet spot, then floor it.
Turbo lag is something youll just have to get used to.

Normal?

10 seconds to spool a t25 is not normal......

i have a ported 14b and will spool just slightly less than the t25 and even i have full boost (stock boost) within 1-2 seconds in 3rd. 5th (i use the car for freeway commute mostly) is just as instantaneous.

a t25 will have a very smooth linear power band. it should feel pretty torquey around 2-3.5k and still pull smoothly to around 6k before the t25 runs out of steam.

boost leaks? me thinks you gots them. do a search for making a "boost leak tester" and have at it.

I have a very similar question. I'm running like I have no power at all. I mean boost leak turns out good, no brick wall, no sputter, nothing.
I don't know who's been in a t25 2g but that little turbo hits like point blink/ small threshold/ torquey feeling. I am having problems and it isn't boosting till close to 3.6rpm.
I log the car and everything seems normal. like 4 counts of knock around 4 rpm but that's it. I thought it was a bad knock sensor but it's in the block tight and no ooze.
Another thing I found is that some members on here mention that when they replaced their thermostat their car had ran better. Not sure how that will help.
Compression is a little high, around 180psi.
Another idea I though of is the turbo is bad itself even though it has NO SHAFT PLAY at all. Rock solid. I did notice a hair line crack at the flapper:hmm: Another syptom is the fans arent turning on by itself unless I turn on the fan via defrost mode + heat. Could the problem be related to cooling and heating. Causing ecu to run safety protocols. I had this problem for a while thinking I could figure it out but today I notice another level that the car is loosing power. I think my car has cancerLOL
I searched here.

Opening your exhaust would get rid of some of the Turbo Lag you are encountering my T-25 did the same thing Apexi full Exhaust helped out a lot but it still has it's lag as most turbo do

check turbo shaft play? and i have a 14b at 20psi with fmic and in 3rd itll spool 20psi in 2-3 seconds aswell. Lag is normal at low rpms but that kinda lag on t-25 isnt.

Shaft play is very tight. Spins freely. I'll have to open up the o2 to check the flapper when I have time. Until then I'll get back when I reach the results.
Fan isn't kicking in also so maybe that might be the other cause... causing the car to run hot dealing with timing issues. I'll have to log again.
