I was driving my car and it was making a knocking noise at higher rpms. I got to a stop sign and i heard a loud screech and the car shut off. any thoughts?

I put more oil in the engine and it all leaked out at the far corner of the oil pan on the side with the bolt to change the oil.

If you got money to spend, sure go with new, just to be on safe side. If you do not have enough money, make sure you be really careful when cleaning everything. If you going with crate engine, my advice save yourself the headache and go new. But at the end, depends on how much time you can spend and afford to do the cleaning. If you can sell your parts for a good price that will help you with money for new parts, why not. Do not go cheap on these motors, go with good brands and good stuff, to save yourself lots of work.
Good luck
