I am buying a 92 talon awd that sat for 10 years in the owners garage and he is finally selling. I am using it as a shell to swap in a build motor to, and I plan on using that motor in it to put in another 92 talon my brother is getting dirt cheap. So considering it sat for that long what would I need to do ensure that the motor will work properly in my brothers car, I figured we need to drain it of oil and all other fluids.

Other issue is I plan on keeping the stock trans, tcase, and rear diff. Again I was going to change all fluids/ filters but is there anything else I should worry about?

yea I figured, are cars rust out fast, that the issue I am having with my current talon, hence why I am getting a fwd eclipse for 150$ for donor panels. I am almost tempted to just take the 91 shell for 600$ such a hard decision.

would I need a actual car trailer or would a utility trailer work? the measurement are 6X12 so it would be more then big enough but the weight cap says 2800lbs, but im pretty sure a few hundred more wouldn't hurt, its 30$ cheaper. Would I be ok with that

I worked on a car that sat for 5 years outside. What a nightmare seriously. I thought my car gave me problems. The calibers were seized. Had to unbolt them just to roll the car around. The gas tank was full of rust. The bearings had rust on them from sitting. There was rat shit everywhere. The harness was chewed on. The list goes on and on really. It was like 4k worth of work to get it running again after. After all that he still had parts on the car that were like 8 years old and sucked so it was like redoing everything.

Its not a bad idea if you just need a shell and were planning on re doing everything but if you think you can just change some fluids and drive it, good luck. I hope it works for you. I was laying it rat shit changing the clutch pedal. I hate that car.

Like I said the car sat in a garage free of the elements, as far as rats I have no clue, as long as the trans, and drive shaft, and dif are fine and the harness is not chewed it is fine.

You might want to start sourcing a fuel tank too. It's gonna be toast.

If I get a awd shell w/o trans and engine but still has drive shaft and rear end attached would I still be able to use a Dolly? Or still a full trailer?

Funny story, I actually have a 93 auto AWD that im about to pull the motor from here in jax, fl (I actually drove it down from Chicago to Jacksonville in October). Im about to make the drive up to Chicago for the holidays. I'm more than capable of towing it with my truck if there is anyone who seriously wants the car. Not looking for much out of it, just to cover cost in gas for the trailer/gas and i would call it even. The car currently runs but like i said im pulling the motor, trans stays with the car.

AAnnnnnd nobody is serious.

you sir, have a Pm...

I already got it:) I didn't go with the full car, got a 91 awd for 400$ only needs a motor and trans. Its really clean ill post pics when my lab top works

The car is not moving due to the parking brake being set for so long... Just get some PB Blaster and spray the rear clipers and climb underneath and wiggle the parking brake cable and spray more loosening juice on it. Then rock it back and forth with 2 people in front and two people in back get a good motion going it will break loose no problem. Repeat steps until it moves if severly stuck.

Nevermind too late!

It was an auto and from the pics he send it looked like the parking break was not on
First car is a 90 eclipse fwd, and the other one is a 91 talon awd, payed 500$ for both of them

Remove the drive-shaft and you can dolly it. Otherwise, the end of the shaft is going to whip around and cause damage.
