Ok hit guys, I am new here, just bought a 1991 tsi (100k miles) that sat outside under a tree for 3years.
I bought it and flatbeded it home, and jumped into this project.

The car is in running condition as I got it, plenty of smoke out the back.
With the car as it, jumped it and drove up and down driveway/ around block (no plates, insurance, registration, inspection).

So the car works fine, eh, drives.

With my Chilton’s in hand, I stated working.

New tires (old one dry-rotted)

Fresh oil filter and oil. (When I drained it, missing 1 1/2quarts and was pretty black)

Drained coolant and filled with 4oz of RMI. (Old coolant was brown/blackish, no oil though)

New pad's all around (pass side caliper bolt was not coming out, tried torch, and everything else in the world, bought a new one and sliced old one off)

New fuel filter (got injector cleaner too)

New air filter (the inside of the intake is quite odd looking)

New belts all around (fun time changing them)

New spark plugs

New valve cover gasket (found the top of an oil cap inside just sitting there)

New wipers :)

After taking off the exhaust manifold heat shield off, found the exhaust manifold cracked in multiple places. Taking the exhaust manifold I backed out two studs, and broke one in the block (drilled and ez'ed out the broken stud). Also broke another bolt in the turbo. Drilled out that one too. The turbo does not seem to have any shaft play in/out up/down, so I am going to leave it for now. Bought an aftermarket manifold for replacement.

Now is there anything else anyone can think of, general maintenance that I should do.

Replace the timing belt, bs belt, hydraulic tensioner, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, and bs idler. Wouldn't you hate for one of these parts to fail and destroy the head at a minimum? Would be cheaper to replace them now then the head later. Besides, I doubt you know the maintenance history behind it.
