hey guys,

THis apst weekend, I helped a friend swap a rebuilt motor into his car, after the swap, during the motorman breakin technique, we noticed that the car dies almost eveytime that the clutch is pressed in. What would be causing this? :talon:

This is mostly caused by a bad isc (Idle speed controller) from what I understand. The same thing that can cause a bad idle surge as well. The part for eclipses is like $150. That may be what it is.

also check and see if the bov is vented, i know when i tryed venting mine in my 92 awd it dies when i push in the clutch. ill just recirculate it and it will be fine

oh yeha, forgot to post, problem been mostly fixed, we bled the slave and adjusted the master rod and now the idle goes down just a teansy bit when I press the clutch in, the hks is vented on my car though.

My car is doing the same thing. And I have a new ISC in it.

I had made some changes to the car before it started this. I think it's in my intake tube. This is because I bought a new one and it didn't fit right. So dumb me thought, Hay stupid leave it on there it will be ok. But since I have had idle surge and almost dieing to dieing everytime I put my clutch in now. Especially right after a high RPM. :talon:

Man I don't know what is causing this car to die. But I wish I could figure it out. Is there anybody that might know something. This is my daily driver so I really need to fix this.
Could this be a bad O2 sensor? Or a bad fuel pump? Anything? :talon:

Have you removed the little ground strap that goes from the top of the tb to the top right tb mounting bolt? If you are unsure of what Im talking about, just make a jumper wire with an aligator clip on each end. Mount one end to the throttle body and the other end to a good ground or the neg terminal on your battery. Mine was doing the same and also surging till I figured it out.

I tried this and it didn't work. So on to the next possible thing. :talon:

I am having the same problem. I haven't replaced my ISC yet, but I am looking at that or a new clutch pedal assembly. I think it is worn, and my clutch is not disengaging all the way.

Is the car in gear or in neutral when its dying, if its in gear and clutch is pressed in, the clutch might not be disengaging properly.

No, I can do this setting in my driveway and rev the motor to about 5000 rpm. And then it like just stalls out when comes down to idle. Drops to like 200 - 300 rpm and catches itself and then back up to regular idle. Or it will just die. :talon:

If the tb is grounded, make sure the closed throttle switch is adjusted and operating properly. This is the single wire sensor that is located on the linkage side of the throttle body. It can also bee clearly seen in the top picture here right above the isc connector. One quick test is to check continuity between the single wire connection and ground while the throttle is closed. If no continuity, try adjusting it in so it closes againt the throttle linkage.

I have replaced about everything in my engine bay now and it still dies. Now I have a bit of idle search going on also.

Here is a list of what I have done:
replaced o2 sensor
replaced throttle body
checked and cleaned injectors
replaced fuel filter
replaced TPS (but I think the new one is bad)

This all started when I fixed my boost leaks. Could this be the FPR? Guys I am stumped on this one so any help PLEASE! :talon:

OK, Guys I found my problem. It was my intake tube. Had an aftermarket pipe on and changed back to stock. Now no stall! If you check my other thread about "can the mafs causing stalling" I have pics up of the pipe I took off. Looks like welding problems to me, But also the bov return is in the wrong place. So check it out and let me know if you know what might have caused this. I paid $90.00 for the damn thing. :talon:

I had the same problem and i fixed by unplugging my isc and just tunning my idle with my maft\

Do you think that is safe to do?
