I recently finished installing my tranny without any major problems, untill i was ready to test drive it. I started it up and found when i pressed in the clutch at idle the rpms immediatly dropped and the car died. When I reved it up and engaged the clutch it would bog out a little and the rpms would slightly drop, and then when I kept the clutch engaged and let it go back to idle it would die. When I was installing the transmission, i noticed that the previous owner had placed 2 washers under the ball stud where the clutch release lever snaps onto, thus rasing it up and creating more leverage. On vfaq it says "Note if you are putting in an aftermarket clutch, it might be a good idea to remove the pivot ball and put a single lockwasher on it. There has always been a big debate on whether this does anything or not, but anyone that actually does notices a difference. It basically helps move the clutch pedal engagement point up off of the floor a bit. I do it on every clutch job I do now."
I was wondering if the 2 washers he placed under there could be causing this?? Could it cause the throw out bearing to put too much pressure on the motor when the clutch is pressed, making the motor stall?? or could it be that my pressure plate or throw out bearing is bad?? any help is appreciated.
