My car had a developing problem where my first an second gear started slipping and it progressively got worse. It ended up just completely not moving the last time I drove it. It does not move in any gear but seems like it barely catches in fifth. If the car is running and I put it in gear and release the clutch it will just contnue to stand still and run with a quiet grinding noise

Me and mY buddy pulled the trans and inspected the clutch. Disk pressure plate and flywheel all looked in good condition. I was wondering what else it could be.

Can you move (push) the car with it in gear? With the car on stands and in 1st gear, turn one of the front wheels and see how the tranny feels...the other wheel should turn in the opposite direction and you should feel the gears meshing, with just a little bit of play as you rotate the wheel one way and the other.

If it was a slowly developing problem in all gears, it sounds like a clutch-related problem. Look at the slave cylinder and TOB fork and see if it is engaging the clutch properly. Also check the usual stuff, like fluid level, etc.

someone else suggested the fork so i'll take a look into that

What does your xfer case output shaft look like??

This is what a failed one looks like.

When the splines go, it just spins in the xfer case making a buzz-like grinding noise.
