Car alarm

Auto start car alarms will work on a manual transmission. You just have to trick it into thinking it is an auto in park ie ground out the park input wire with the ebrake wire. Word of advise not recommended. Its prety embarrassing chasing your car across the parking lot because you remote started it and it was in gear, needless to say I plugged my clutch switch back in and just used it for the tt

I agree if your in the habit of putting your car in gear when parked a remote system could be a bad idea. I would recommend breaking that habit way before you install such a system or not do it at all. Also if you are going to start just using your ebrake (not recommended on a steep incline) make sure its in tip top shape.

Just as embarrassing chasing your car down a hill cause your ebrake sucks :ohdamn:

Lol, that would be embarrassing. I cant remember the last time i left my car in gear, so im not worried about that. I figured i could trick it.

Time to clear up some misinformation here.
Most remote start alarms are made for manuals or automatics, inside them there is usually a wire you snip or dip switches you set to put it into automatic transmission mode.

With a remote start on a manual you normally need to set a reservation mode to remote start the car. The last Compustar system I had went like this: Park your car, set the parking brake, leave the car in neutral, shut it off (it will keep running), get out and shut the door, arm the alarm and it will shut off a second later. You can now remote start it. However if the alarm is triggered or disarmed you will need to reset this reservation mode.

When it comes to an alarm buy DEI (Clifford, Viper, etc) or Compustar.

I was looking for a viper. But i know of a local who has an alarm with remote start (manual). He just starts it like you normally would with an automatic. He bought it like that, so he doesnt know much on it. It is a viper alarm.
