Hi, as the title says, I was finishing up the last few freemods I had to do on the car yesterday and decided to cap off the emissions lines on the Throttle Body. I pulled the lines off and capped the TB at autozone. Drove home and the car ran nice. I felt like it had ever so slightly increased in throttle response, but also didn't quite idle as well as it should, surged just a little bit. I parked it at my apartment for an hour before I had to leave for work, got out to it and it wouldn't even get me out of the parking lot. Had zero power, stalled as soon as the clutch was all the way out even with the pedal to the floor, running ridiculously rich, smoking out the exhaust really bad that just smelled like gas, not oil.
I pulled the caps off and put the lines back, and it didn't change anything. Later, I had a co-worker suggest that I needed to reset my ECU, which seemed like an awesome idea. Today I went out to it, pulled the battery off for like five minutes with the vacuum lines back on, it still drove awful, and I noticed a hissing coming from the sensor on the frontside of the TB elbow... It looks like the gasket there or something has become leaky. When I adjust the idle screw higher, it hisses louder and I can reach my finger down and it's definitely leaking air there.
I'm away from my good garage, so even getting to that screw to tighten it is a big deal. Did I bust the gasket there? is there a gasket there? What happened and what should I do?
Thanks so much.
