Just installed a AEM digital wideband. Kept reading of ppl installing it on the stock location. After talking to a guy on here he said he did it with nor problems but to use the blue wire for the 02 signal to the ecu and the white wire for the egrt to the ecu. Basically bypassing the stock sensors and using the wideband only.

Now though on my palm pilot mmcd logger, the computer is only seeing a wideband o2 reading. Which makes sense because of how its hooked up now, but doeant the ecu need to see a narrowband? Or is it fine making air/fuel adjustments based off the wideband reading only?
 
Egrt? What do you mean by this?

The white wire is a 5v for logging.
Blue is for serial data logging.

Neither one is a narrowband signal.

In addition, yes your ecu needs a front o2 narrowband simulation signal to operate and go into closed loop right.

Put your factory one back in and stick the wb farther down under the car in the exhaust. I would do this if you don't have link to simulate a narrowband.

Thats what i kept saying. That i didnt have link to simulate a narrowband but was told the wideband itself was able to simulate it.

Exhuast gas recirculation temp.

Ill just put the narrowband back in and have a bung welded on. But as far as the blue and white wire, where is the correct locatiin to wire these on a 1g? Because there is no sensor being unused like on the rear o2 of a 2g.

I mean so im able to log the wideband as well as the narrowband on my palm logger?

I have nEver heard of an exhaust gas recirculation temp before. I think you may have your terminology mixed up. Since you do not have an aftermarket ecu i would also recommend you move it farther down at let the ecu read off of the stock 02.
 
I would leave them tied out of the way for now. Unless you want to log the wb. Then i would use the blue and wire it up to a serial port.

You will need some type of software to log it still.
I do not know much about a palm logger so others may chime in.
But I assume you need to wire the 5v to a unused ecu input and calibrate it so its logs right. (if you can even do this on the MMCD program) Been a long time since I have used that stuff.
 
Its pin 15 on the stock ecu. I believe its for California emissions set up cars only.

Thank you for the link. Isnt the point of having a wideband to be able to log it though? I guess its also useful to just watch it while driving but harder to see at what rpms what air/fuel ratio im running.

Just cut into some wire in my ecu harness that werent even necessary. Pisses me off!
 
Generally you can trust what you read on dsmtuners. If there is misinformation, people chime in and correct it most of the time.

If you don’t have any software for tuning I wouldn’t worry about logging it yet. Just use the gauge as a visual safety.

Yea i do trust 99% of what i read on her. Most know exactly what there talking about and if not, like you said someone chimes in.

Wnote i know its not nearly as useful as link, I do have safc 2 for small adjustments.

Thanks again for yalls help though. Still hate that i chopped up my ecu wiring for no reason!

You can wire the UEGO to emulate the stock O2 if you like, you just have to set the controller properly, as detailed in the link posted above. One thing I will mention is that, while the EGRT is a great imput for your wideband to enable you to log your AFR, the scale for the wideband data in MMCD is not adjustable and is set somewhere like 8:1 AFR to 20:1 AFR. Most wideband controllers are scaled differently- (For example, the NGK AFX wideband is: 9:1 AFR to 16:1 AFR. Because of this, the wideband data you see will not be accurate in MMCD. Some wideband controllers, such as the lc1, have programmable analog outputs so that you could set the output to match MMCD.
 
Yea with a couple little tweaks from the above post, as its for a 2g, I was able to bypass the stock o2 and use only the wideband. Still getting the narrowband signal of course via the wideband though. I left the logget cable unhooked and will install it later when i get a better logging device.

I guess the guy before did know what he was talking about. Im just an idiot.
