Cannot get Aeromotive AFPR installed

Besides the fact that I'm trying to figure out which fittings I need to use and how they go, my major problem is I cannot find a place to mount the actual FPR. I got the "Firewall" mount kit from Extremepsi.com Everything I've tried will not work. Its a stock 2g with nothing removed from anywhere. What did some of you guys remove or relocate to get yours to fit? Mines the box FPR not the black top. Please help. Pics would be extremely appreciated.

I've been looking at that thread "Oldman!!" I've tried the ones that I can tell are 2g's but mine still wont fit for some god forsaken reason. Damn you 1g's and all of your space under the hood!!!!

Just a quick question, the stainless lines go inside of a screw cap, but for some reason I cant get my line to start inside of the cap, it just gets hung on the out side of it.

Did you buy the same brand fitting and lines? Different brands may differ slightly in size. Did you hammer the cap on there? Try using lube and slowly/patiently twist it in.

Do 2g intake manifold's have a threaded hole on the intake manifold in the area I highlighted in red? I fabbed a bracket and mounted my regulator using that threaded hole on my Galant. Sorry for stealing your picture.

I used the bolt next to the fuel pressure solenoid to mount mine. You have to play with it a little, but you'll fit it in there. I just shoved the FPS down into the abyss of wires & tubing.

It's bolted down to an upper control arm bolt.


GVR4592, I don't think 2Gs have that hole. That particular one is a 6-bolt swap.

Well I've finally got mine mounted and installed......I think Just curious before I blow something up. Steps in checking the pressure.

1.First make sure its getting pressure before you try to start it.
2. Pull Vac. line off of FPR
3. Start
4. Make adj's while car is OFF?
5. Them make adj's with vac. line on 43.5 2g
6. Take it down the road and spank the shit out of a z06

In all seriousness though the car does need to be idling to check adn read the pressure? I heard from one person that you're supposed to pull the wires off and false start the car and do it that way.

Pull vacuum line off
Start car
Adjust pressure to the highest your car's going to see..take 42.5 & add the amount of boost you're going to be running, to check for leaks.
Fix any leaks, adjust the pressure back down to 42.5 psi
Put vacuum line back on, psi should drop ~5 psi.
Done

The pressure goes back down to zero when the car's off.

Nice job on the mounting "a scobel"! That's really about the only location for it to mount on a 2G. And how about those brake reservoir brackets? I don't believe I've seen one that wasn't rusted up. Except for a new one, and then it rusts pretty quickly also. I think Mitsubishi could have done a better coating job considering it will probably have brake fluid on it at some time.

Mine is in the same location, made a bracket at work. I removed the fuel pressure solenoid and put the bracket in it's place with the FPS attached to the back of the new bracket for the FPR so I could retain the FPS function.

Start car

Put vacuum line back on, psi should drop ~5 psi.

I'll agree for the most part except the pressure drop portion. Your fuel pressure should drop 1psi for every 2inHg. If you idle at 20inHg you should lose 10psi from your base set point.

Although for a 2G the base is really 43.5psi hose off, although most hit 44psi as that is a line on most gauges that can easily be hit.

On a side note, I like the idea of taking the fuel pressure up to boost setting, ie 44psi base plus the boost pressure in order to check for leaks.
