Can you swap a 6 Bolt 4g63 JDM motor into a 2g Eclipse and pass smog?

I am in California and I recently bought a 2g 97 gst. The motor might be done and saw a used 6 bolt 4g63 online for about $2.7k. I wanted to know if anyone is knowledgeable about the 6 bolt swap and how the logistics would work with passing smog and a possible state ref.

2.7K I'm guessing it isn't a stock motor. Is that what you want? If it's a stock motor that's very expensive in my opinion.
what makes you think you motor is "done" anyway? Details please.

The motor I was looking at is a motor imported from Japan it has 31k miles. I’m only considering it because I’ve seen a lot of people say the 6 bolt are more reliable long term.

There are many other factors and it has been discussed to death. Yes if I had my choice ( and I do) I will run a 6 bolt. That doesn't stop me from modding my existing 97 motor and I have. When it's time to change motors i will install a 6 bolt. It isn't a "drop in" affair. Changes have to be made both physically and electrically and they are well documented.

Yes - I live in CA, I run a 6-Bolt, with 1G head and intake and I pass smog.
Did you do the swap yourself or did you take it road race engineering. Only reason I ask I recently found out of that shop and wanted to know how good they are.

If you are going to RRE for this, ask for Robert Garcia, or Honda Robert
