Just wondering if there is a way that my filter housing that I am tapped into
can cause my mechanical oil pressure gauge to show low pressure?

This is a new rebuild the bearing clearance is with in spec. But what I have noticed
is that I only get about 10 psi at idle warmed up. The pressure does build up to 65-70 when I get on the throttle. If I take the oil cap off and get on the throttle there is oil shooting out the filler hole. I have no balance shaft and there are no oil squirters. I am running 10w40 for my break in.

If this is the case can I tap into the head I noticed that near the thermostat on the head there is a bolt that if removed oil spills out. Forgot to plug this hole on first start LOL. Since I have plugged it but wondering if there is another place I can tap into and check oil pressure?

Thanks

Have tried driving the car and to see what the oil pressure is under a load? Because that seems low to me.

Yeah under load it builds up to about 60psi that is at like 5 psi or just driving at like 55 - 60 That is what is strange to me is it looks fine under load and when I idle it up to like 2500-3500rpm it gets into the 30's and 40's.

I guess I am paranoid new rebuild and just seems like everything scares me at this point. Only 25miles on the engine because of little things like this scaring me to drive it much.

The rule of thumb is 10psi per 1000 rpms. At idle, it should be around 10 or more (mine is at 12 @750) and around 70 at redline. Also, there is difference between flow and pressure. Higher viscosity oil will show more pressure at a given flow rate and lower will show less pressure at the same flow rate. You should be fine as long as you put the right stub shaft in the oil pump.

Put in the one with the grove in the middle. When I did a rebuild, I found out mine was solid and it gouged out the oil pump bearing housing. I had to get another oil pump housing.

Thanks for the info.
