oil filter housing

someone was telling me that you can swap a oil filter housing off a automatic to a manual and it gives you more room for the filter? Is this correct? I have a v-band setup and its impossible to get my filter off without taking the exhaust off so i was just curious if this is possible or not

Idk about the difference btwn the two but I'm going to use a evo ofh to point it forward and use an external cooler when i install my exhaust kit for the same reason.

i don't have a oil cooler when i bought the car they had a 6an fitting with the hose circling around to both holes so i just put 2 bolts in it and blocked it off but now i'm trying to decide if i want to do the front facing housing or try out a automatic housing

I use the front facing housing, it frees up a ton of room. It's easy to change oil too.
