can i use this "anaerobic gasket maker" on my transmission case?

it seems to dry slowly greasy, but eventually does so but doesn't finish like rtv. anyone know if this is suitable? doesn't have specific application info on back. thanks...

I'd personally just get a tube of gray silicone RTV and be done with it.

Think about it - if it were to leak after it was on the car, the work to fix the leak wouldn't be worth the few dollars you had hoped to save.

actually found good reviews for this stuff and this interesting note in a review:

" This is the best stuff out there. It's anerobic so it only hardens in the absence of oxygen. Any excess will flow through the system and not gum up anything important (oil passages especially.) "

which explains the greasiness I noticed on the outside, yes, as I mentioned it does dry as it did on the mating surfaces.

and its supposedly the same thing as loctite 518 which is supposed to be good(?).

Yes, it's not only suitable, it's recommended. Just make sure the mating surfaces are clean.

I call it the magic. That stuff does not leak. I have an oldish Harley and use it on my gaskets, ### Harleys do leak if not just by reputation, I use it on my drain plugs that don't have orings and they never leak. Magic!

That is what we use to seal the rear structure on Detroit 60 series engines at my job. The stuff works great! Have also used it to seal crank cases on snowmobiles.
