I hope someone reads this that really knows what to do. I'm rebuilding a 420a n/t. Bedplate is fixing to go back on and i have the anerobic sealer for that. Next is the oil pump, that's no big deal that I need anerobic sealer for that. But in my manual one of the last steps is to apply an 1/8th inch of loctite 18716 or equiv. to the oil pump to bedplate parting surfaces. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LOCTITE 18716. I called Henkel myself. Can anyone give me what anerobic sealers to use on the oil pump? If you use one sealer or two? Thanks everybody.

thanks guys, I have the purple torque cure from dodge, it was suggested to me for the bedplate. and y'all recomend the red (loctite 51831/permatex 51813) for the oil pump?:aha:

my overhaul manual says that i should put some "18716" in two spots where the oil pump and bedplate meet. that is what's really throwing me off. i'll try to post that section of my overhaul manual so y'all can see what i'm talkin about.

All of the sealants above will work for both the bedplate-to-block and oil pump-to-block junctions. See here for where to apply the sealant:

I think you might be talking about the small gaps between the oil pump and block, on the bottom. The FSM recommend putting a little bit of RTV (regular black RTV) there to help the oil pan gasket better form a seal.

yes that's what i was talkin about!!!! so it's rtv??? do you not put rtv over the whole oil pan gasket sealing area? thanks everybody for help'n me out. hope to return the favor one day.:D

from that link: "Lay down a bead of RTV sealant at the crack between the oil pump and block. Then, lay the oil pan gasket down over the bead of RTV. Drop the oil pan down over the gasket and loosely install its bolts. Use a 10mm socket to torque them to 9 ft-lbs. Start in the middle of the pan and evenly work your way out."

I think using RTV on the entire gasket sealing area is a bit of overkill. Check out the link that VelocitàPaola provided, it covers an entire engine rebuild step by step, full of good (and well written) information.

yeah i check it out....man it made things alot simpler. I'll try to post some pics on here as my build comes together. only thing holding me back is funds. stuff aint cheap when your doin it right!
